Men’s Yellows and Women’s Pinks win first NBSL in Florida!

The finals were played on Sunday at Fort Lauderdale Beach

The USA’s National Beach Soccer League has its first ever champions after the maiden event came to a close in Florida on Sunday. 

The Yellow team won the men’s league, while the Pinks claimed the women’s title.

Organised by the Stars & Stripes Head Coach Francis Farberoff as well as US international beach soccer player Aldo Balsano, the event took place over two days, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December, on Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida

Around 80 players from all over the USA, including California, Ohio, Michigan and Colorado, travelled to the southern state of Florida to take part in the competition, which featured four men’s and four women’s sides.

US international Meghan Wharton won the MVP in the women’s league, while the Top Scorer went to Kelly McShane, the Best Goalkeeper to Christi Yount and the Rising Star was Rebecca Staylor.

In the men’s category, an amazing performance from Pacheco saw him win both the MVP and the Top Scorer trophy, while Leivid Sanchez won the Best Goalkeeper and Antonio “Tone” Chavez took home the Rising Star award.

The huge success of the tournament considering the circumstances, shows clearly that the organisation and passion for beach soccer is United States is growing with each passing season.
