Both sides widen the distance atop the standings in group A and B of the Nigerian national league
The Second Round of the maiden Nigeria Beach Soccer League climaxed on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi with Kada’s 8 goals galore and Kebbi hitting Badagry hard with 7 goals.
On the opening day of the second round, Kebbi avenged their loss to Kwara earlier in the first round by humbling the Harmony Boys of Kwara 4-1. Veteran Emeka Ogbonna had led the rout against his former club in front of their fans in a game that was one-sided.
In other games on the opening day; Smart City defeated Edo HCF 5-1, while Kada Beach Soccer led by former Kebbi Fishers player Dozie Frank overpowered Lagos’ Igbogbo team 6-5 in the closely fought game of matchday four.
Action however resumed Friday when in an entertaining and heated afternoon in the city of Birnin Kebbi, Kwara Beach Soccer returned to winning ways after their loss to Kebbi, defeating Badagry 4-3.
In other Group A game of Friday, Kada BSC defeated Edo HCF BSC 5-3. It was however a hard-fought victory for Igbogbo BSC who emerged victorious in the Lagos Derby with a 4-5 win over Smart City at the extra time.
On the last matchday in Kebbi, Igbogbo hammered Edo HCF 7-1 before Kada went on to establish their dominance by beating Smart City 8-3 to remain unbeaten so far in both rounds of the league.
Kebbi, who is currently ranked No 1 in Africa, also wrapped up their second round campaign with a convincing 7-2 win over Badagry. Kebbi’s captain Hammed Oladele was a delight to watch by fans who turned out en masse to support their home team.
With the Second-Round of matches concluded in Kebbi, the 3rd Round moves to Kwara State as teams jostle for points to qualify into the Super 4 finals in Kaduna City this July.
