The country’s national game takes another step forward with the start of their new competition.
The progression of female beach soccer has taken another step with the advent of the Iran Women’s Championship.
This past year has seen both the Euro Winners Cup and the Euro Beach Soccer Cup added to the sporting calendar, with women’s teams able to impress at both club and international level.
Numerous national championships have also been set up this year across the world, with Iran’s the latest to feature in a national schedule after getting under way recently.
As Paria Shahriari, Head of Beach Soccer for the Iran Football Association, pointed out when writing for www.beachsoccer.com in May, “women’s beach soccer has a great future ahead, let’s enjoy it“.
Iran has made women’s beach soccer a key priority in recent years, hosting numerous FIFA courses and seminars as well as helping put foundations in place for the female game.
With more events and competitions slated globally for 2017, Iran looks well placed to help maintain the momentum of women’s beach soccer.
