Mohammad Mirshamsi’s men see off UAE to head to the Bahamas as Asian champions.
Iran lifted the AFC Beach Soccer title for a second time on Saturday as they beat UAE 7-2 on the final day of the competition in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia.
Both nations will head to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup but it is Iran who will do as as AFC champions after braces from Moslem Mesigar and tournament MVP Mohammadali Mokhtari helped see off a spirited UAE effort.
The two nations will now begin preparations for their campaign in the Bahamas, where they could potentially come face to face once more.
They may also meet Japan, who finished the AFC Beach Soccer Championship in third after a 6-3 victory over Lebanon.
It was a win that also ensures them a place at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup and once again Marcelo Mendes’ side were able to call on the services of prolific forward Goto Takasuke in their quest.
His four-goal haul ultimately helped hold off a stubborn Lebanon side, who finish the tournament fourth for a second edition running.
