Brazil and Mexico will decide who takes the Copa America home after bending Argentina and the USA today
Brazil left no room for surprise in this second day in the Copa America 2013. The defending champions beat Argentina to keep ahead in the table, and will play Mexico tomorrow trying to win the tournament for the 10th time.
It took a whole period to see the first ball hit the net, but Junior Negão?s side found today a sweeter beginning than the one yesterday. In the first minute of the second leg, one of the new talents in the Verdeamarela, Anderson Wesley, swept his side ahead.
Benjamin widened the distance from the penalty kick spot, after Franceschini was punished for handballing inside the box. De Ezeyza keep to get Argentina in the fight in the first stage of the third leg, but Brazil made the best defense from their attacking spirit, and Bueno closed the score with a superb goal to secure the points for the hosts.
In turn, Mexico secured their chances to fight for the title tomorrow after edging neighbours USA in the opening game in the second matchday of the Copa America 2013. The CONCACAF kings beat Soto?s lads under a soft rain, thanks to the goals by star Ricardo Villalobos and Angel Rodríguez.
The game was fairly leveled, as after Villalobos? opened the score for Mexico in the last minutes of the first period, the one-goal difference remained for most of the game. It was not until three minutes before the final whistle than Rodríguez secured the points for Raya?s team.
With this win, the Azteca team takes on Brazil tomorrow, reediting last year?s final. Both teams top the table, with 6 points, and the winner tomorrow will get their hands on the Cup.
