The Euro Beach Soccer League 2015 is coming to an end with the Superfinal and Promotion Final in Estonia from the 20th-23rd of August
Each and every day in Estonia will be chock full of glorious games, including but not limited to the hosts taking on Norway in the last match of day one, Italy and Spain renewing their Mediterranean rivalry, and Portugal will take on Russia in the penultimate math of the day. The Russians were the two-time defending FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Champions, in 2011 and 2013, but the Portuguese earned the crown this year, taking out Russia in the semi-finals, on their home sand, so this dramatic battle will feature the winners of the last three World Cups. August 20-23rd will be the center of the beach soccer world, not just Portugal and Russia, as all eyes will turn to Estonia for this prestigous event.
All of the teams have arrived and are more than prepared to finish the EBSL 2015 season on a high-note, with the hopes of winning either the Superfinal or Promotion Final. The Superfinal consists of the eight best National Selections in Europe, aptly called Division A, while the Promotion Final includes the seven best Division B teams from all over Europe and the last place team from Division A. The Promotion Final will determine whether the Division A team can compete again in 2016 in Division A or if a new Division B team will fight in the top division. The rankings and seeds for this championship event took place over two Group Stages, one in Moscow, Russia, and the second in Siófok, Hungary, over the course of the summer.
Division A or the Superfinal is split into two groups, Group 1 with Ukraine, Belarus, Italy, and Spain and Group 2 has Portugal, Russia, France, and Switzerland. The Promotion Final is also split into two groups, Hungary, England, Norway, and the hosts, Estonia, are in Group 1. Group 2 of the Promotion Final has the Czech Republic, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Romania. The first three days of the competition will be a round robin format, with each team playing each other once, and as is always the case, each match will have a definitive winner, and at the end of the Saturday the 23rd, all the final matches will be determined, as the winner of each group will play for Europe’s best, and the second place teams in each group will battle for 3rd Place. In the Promotion Final, the winner of each group will play for the right to either stay in or move to Division A for the 2016 season. No one will want to budge or give an inch to their opponents and the highly competitive competition will show why the Old Continent is full of world-class talent.
