Balaruc-Les-Bains, France hosted two friendly matches between the French and Spanish National teams
The Euro Beach Soccer League season is nearly upon us and two the Old Continents´ best countries recently played in two friendly matches to tune-up for the highly competitive season. Last year the Furia Roja played well in the EBSL Superfinal but were unable to win, though they have higher hopes for 2014 as they came in second place at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 Tahiti against Russia. France played extremely well last season in the EBSL Promotion Final and maintained their Division A status by winning it all.
The first match between the two European beach soccer constants was held on April 16th and Spain managed to earn the victory by a score of 3-1. The hosts were then unable to find the back of the net more than once, thanks to Didier Samoun, as the Spanish defense clamped down. Les Bleus were stingy with their defense as well but in the end they conceded three goals from Raul Merida, Juanma, and Llorenç.
April 17th marked the second friendly match and once again the Spanish won. The path to victory was much different in the final match as three players, one from France and two from Spain, scored multiple goals in an exciting 6-5 win for the visitors. Spain overcame a hat-trick from Mickael Pagis with two goals each from Juanma and Llorenç.
Next time Spain and France are due to meet is the Euro Beach Soccer League stage in Sopot, Poland, from the 27th to the 29th of June.
