High-voltage action goes on in Catania as the last group stage match day will decide who joins the best 16
Rostocker Robbern earns first points
The German champions Rostocker Robben stay in the fight for a place onto next round after their win today over Latvian side BFK Zep Forevers. The game was the perfect showdown to kick the second matchday of the Euro Winners Cup off, with a great comeback, extra time and lots of drama.
Rostocker wanted to lead the way in the game, and eventually did for most of first and second periods.. But three goals in the last stage of the match, when the Germans were 5-2 up, sent the game to extra time. In the additional period, both teams knew that one mistake could have them out of the competition but, despite that, fought for the winner rather than sitting back and looking after their nets. Rostocker got the prize, though, with the 6-5 by Bullermann that gives them two points and the chance to fight tomorrow for the ticket to the round of 16.

Chargers seal highest-scoring-ever win to secure Round of 16 berth
Although it seemed really difficult, Chargers beat their yesterday’s amusing scoring records, in a ridiculously high-scoring game against Portsmouth Beach Soccer. The Swiss champions sealed a 17-5 win, which becomes the highest-ever scoring game in the EuroWinners Cup.
During the first minutes, it was difficult to foresee the final outcome of the match , specially because Portsmouth was managing to stay afloat, replying the Swiss opening strikes to stay always close. But after the 3-2, the Alpine champions took off, and mercilessly punished the English nets once and again. The final result propels Chargers Baselland to the next round. Their match tomorrow against ESC Gyongyos will determine which team access the Round of 16 as the head of group H.

Loud win sees Gyongyos onwards
ESC Gyongyos is another one of the teams that will join the Euro Winners 2016 Best 16 club, following an stout win over Copenhagen BSC. The Hungarian titleholders hit early to unbalance things on their favour. Copenhagen tried to react, but the beach soccer entity they were taking on was just too much for them to combat…
Bruno Malias, Meier, Coimbra, and Mauricinho shared the scoring responsibility today for the Magyar, supported by national hero Peter Abel. Gyongyos’ timely attacks kept finding the back of the Danes’ nets, as Copenhagen was unable to find the formula to contend them. With the final whistle, ESC Gyongyos book their slot on next round, while Copenhagen’s option definitely vanished.

Djoker found the best way to pull themselves together after yesterday’s heavy defeat to SC Braga. The Moldovan side upset Romanian champions AS Performer Constanta to shake group G and get back the right to fight for next round.
Djoker caught Performer Constanta by surprise with a 0-3 run in the first four minutes of the game, which got them a safety cushion that helped the throughout the game, when things got harder. Performer took some time to stand up again, and begin their fight back. Despite trying hard, Maci’s magic was not enough for the Romanian side, and Djoker managed to stay on foot, clinching three points that let them dream now.

Braga hammers WKR Santos to stay atop
Sporting Clube de Braga seem determined to do real harm on any opponent they are to take on, willing to send a powerful message to the rest of opponents in this Euro Winners Cup. The Portuguese side feel stronger than ever, and will not be contented with other than the silverware here in Catania.
Their game against England’s WKR Santos was a talent and beach soccer display, in which the English could do nothing but stomach, one after the other, the strokes by the Minho Warriors. With the Portuguese side comfortably at the top of the table in group G, the rest of the teams will still have a last chance tomorrow to merit the ticket to the Round of 16 of this Euro Winners Cup 2016.

Grembach, back to the fight after running past Igol
Grembach Lodz got back to the race to the Round of 16, following a laudable win over BSC Igol. Despite conceding a narrow defeat yesterday to 2013 champions Lokomotiv Moscow, the Polish side brought on their best version today to earn three points that help them keep remarkable options to access the best 16 group.
Not wanting to suffer any unexpected fright, Ziober , Baran and Clarke built a consistent lead for Grembach. Budratis pulled one back for Igol, but the match was firmly controlled by the Poles, who cruised to the final whistle with five more goals that sealed their first victory in this years’ Euro Winners Cup.
Goals: 0-1: Ziober, min. 10 (1); 0-2: Baran, min. 6 (1); 0-3: Baran, min. 6 (1); 0-4: Clarke, min. 3 (1); 1-4: Budratis, min. 3 (1); 1-5: Rangel, min. 1 (1); 1-6: Day, min. 1 (2); 2-6: Vasiljevs, min. 0 (2); 2-7: Widzicki, min. 5 (3); 2-8: Rangel, min. 4 (3); 2-9: Rangel, min. 2 (3)
Lokomotiv keeps growing and see themselves in Round of 16
After suffering for the victory yesterday, Lokomotiv clinched a loud win today over Turkish champions Alanyaspor. The Russian side knew that a win today meant the ticket to next round, and were set to secure it as soon as possible.
With that idea in mind, Lokomotive hit the sand of the DomusBet stadium today, and Makarov, Daniel and Lukao swept “Loko” ahead early in the first frame. Madjer managed to stop the Lokomotiv run, pulling one back for Alanyaspor before the end of the first period. But that was the furthest the Turkish side would get, as the 2013 champions Lokomotiv kept flying, and progressively widened the distance until the final and incontestable 9-1. Lokomotiv, with two wins so far, secures a place in the next round. Alanyasport, in turn, will play all-or-nothing against Grembach tomorrow. The winner gets in.
Goals: 1-0: Makarov, min. 11 (1); 2-0: Daniel, min. 7 (1); 3-0: Lukao, min. 6 (1); 3-1: Majer, min. 0 (1); 4-1: Gorchinskiy, min. 5 (2); 5-1: Chuzkov, min. 3 (2); 6-1: Daniel, min. 11 (3); 7-1: Fernando DDI, min. 10 (3); 8-1: Lukao, min. 5 (3); 9-1: Fernando DDI, min. 4 (3)
Lonely goal gives Hemako Sztutowo the points
One single goal got Omida Hemako Sztutowo back into the fight for the tickets in group E, and with remarkable options to make it through onto next round. Despite their defeat yesterday to Artur Music, the loss by the surprising Ukrainian to Dinamo Batumi, together with their narrow win, grants them the chance to fight for their bert tomorrow, against, precisely, the Georgian team.
The sound defense by both teams was highlighted since the very beginning. None of the contenders wanted to conceded any goal, and tightened their rear-guards not to allow goal chances easily. Midway first leg, Ziarko found a crack on BSC Peugeot’s line to bag the winner for Hemako Sztutowo, who managed to defent their tight advantage until the final hooter.
Goals: 1-0: Ziarko, min. 6 (1);
Dino inspires Falfala Kfar Qassem
Three goals by Brazilian star Dino Tambau helped Falfala Kfar Qassem claim their second loud win, which secures the Israeli National kings the ticket to the round of 16. Winti Panthers could do little to counteract the inspired Israel side, and see themselves out of the competition.
Falfala Kfar Qasses secured the victory in the first half of the game. The initial 0-4 run was only contested by Florian’s 4-1 for the Alpine side. But, after that, two more goals widened the distance for Falfala even further. Waldhier pulled another one back for Winti, but it was too little too late to make the Israeli side stumble.
Goals: 1-0: Ahmad, min. 7 (1); 2-0: Dino, min. 0 (1); 3-0: Daniel, min. 10 (2); 4-0: Dino, min. 9 (2); 4-1: Florian, min. 9 (2); 5-1: Yatim, min. 8 (2); 6-1: Dino, min. 7 (2); 6-2: Waldhier, min. 3 (2); 7-2: Moad, min. 6 (3)
Dinamo Batumi upset Artur Music in see-saw battle
An amazing performance by Edu Suarez had Dinamo Batumi prevailing in a see-saw battle against Ukrainian powerhouse Artur Music. The Spaniard scored five goals to give his side three key points, which allow them to still depend on themselves to make it through onto next round. A win over Poland’s Hemako Sztutowo would see the Georgian in.
Despite Noel Ott pushed Artur Music ahead, the game quickly became a troke exchange that had boths sides needing to fight back to achieve and withhold their advantage. When Stankovic managed to turn the score around midway half third period, things seemed to be pretty in control for the Ukrainian champs, but an astonishingly inspired Suarez sealed the win for his team with three goals in two minutes. The final score messes the whole group E, as all four contenders reach the last group matchday with 3 points.
Goals: 1-0: Ott, min. 7 (1); 1-1: Edu Suárez, min. 2 (1); 1-2: Addari, min. 11(2); 2-2: Zborovskyi, min. 7 (2); 2-3: Edu Suárez, min. 5 (2); 2-4: Addari, min. 3 (2); 3-4: Borsuk, min. 0 (2); 4-4: Stankovic, min. 8 (3); 5-4: Stankovic, min. 7 (3); 5-5: Edu Suarez, min. 4 (3); 5-6: Edu Suarez, min. 3 (3); 5-7: Edu Suarez, min. 2 (3); 6-7: Stankovic, min. 1 (3);
Terracina reacts in third period to secure next round
Iliyaz, with three goals, and FC Odesos turned to be an uncomfortable opponent for Serie A champions Terracina. The Puntini saw their opponents turn the score around in the first period, coming back from a seemingly safe 2-0, and needed an extra effort during the last frame to seal the points and, consequently, the ticket to the round of 16 in this Euro Winners Cup 2016.
Palmacci came to the rescue in that last leg, with three goals that propelled his team to the victory. Amid the Terracinesi dominion, Milkov wanted to have his team stand up again, but his effort resulted meaningless, as the hooter was just about to sound.
Goals: 1-0: Palmacci, min. 9 (1); 2-0: Souza, min. 10 (2); 2-1: Iliyaz, min. 10 (2); 2-2: Iliyaz, min. 2 (2); 2-3: Iliyaz, min. 1 (2); 3-3: Olleia, min. 0 (2); 4-3: Palmacci, min. 11 (3); 5-3: Nelito, min. 11 (3); 6-3: Palmacci, min. 11 (3); 7-3: Palmacci, min. 9 (3); 7-4: Milkov, min. 0 (3);
Viareggio prevail in amazing beach soccer showdown
Viareggio and Kryya Sovetov rewarded the spectators with the some of the finest beach soccer of the season. The clash between these two powerhouses was a perfect sample of what any beach soccer fan loves about this sport. Drama, ups and downs, amazing moves, unbelievable saves… and lots of goals. The final score was absolutely unpredictable, as momentum swung from one side to other.
After Bokinha opened the score with a breath-taking free kick, the beach soccer festival just took off… The Brazilian forward capitalised most of his team’s scoring records today. Instead, Viareggio had Azzurri internationals Gori and Ramacciotti as the main scorers, with attention on Valenti, and Remedi as well. As Viareggio managed a two-goal difference getting into third period, the game’s destiny seemed clearer, but Bokinha would not let their opponents give anything for granted and cut the distance in half. Fortunately for the Translapine side, Krylya’s reaction went no further, and today’s win makes them the leaders of group C, heading onto next round.
Goals: 1-0: Bokinha, min. 10 (1); 1-1: Ramacciotti, min. 8 (1) 1-2: Valenti, min. 8 (1); 2-2: Bokinha, min. 7 (1); 3-2: Remedi, min. 6 (1); 3-3: Bokinha, min. 0 (1); 4-3: Bokinha, min. 9 (3); 4-4: Gori, min. 4 (2); 5-4: Ramacciotti, min. 0 (2); 6-4: Gori, min. 10 (3); 6-5: Bokinha, min. 4 (3);
Six of the best ease Pyramide past Waterloo
La Grande Motta Pyramide were rarely troubled by Cartel Waterloo as the French side overcame their Belgian opponents 6-1
Less than a minute into the Group B encounter, goalkeeper Dupin scored to put the French side ahead and Rambier doubled the advantage from a set-piece.
While Ghion gave Waterloo hope, Barbotti headed in from a corner before the end of the opening period to keep Pyramide in control.
The forward was back on target again midway into a high-octane second period that saw both keepers produce top-drawer saves prior to Pyramide’s fifth from the spot.
The final spell of action failed to yield any goes until Labaste capped a wonderful team move and completed the scoring in the late stages.
Goals: 0-1: Dupin, min. 11 (1st); 0-2: Rambier, min. 6 (1st); 1-2: Ghion, min. 6 (1st); 1-3: Barbotti, min. 0 (1st); 1-4: Barbotti, min. 7 (2nd), 1-5: El Mahrouk, min. 2 (2nd), 1-6: Lambaste, min. 3 (3rd);
Amanatidis late show shows Atlas the way
A late brace from Amanatidis settled a gripping match between Atlas AO and PBS Zwolle as the Greek side ran out 6-4 winners in thrilling fashion.
A powerful free-kick from Tzortzis opened the scoring for Atlas and an equally impressive acrobatic effort courtesy of Passaris doubled the lead.
Timmer got Zwolle off the mark with a smart finish late in the opening period and Van der Steege dragged the Dutch outfit level when his low drive found its way through Nikolaou’s legs.
A deflected effort from Timmer clipped the top of the crossbar before the break while Wolf hit the post afterwards and Tsitsaris looked to have taken advantage when he put Atlas back on top.
But Wolf responded straight from kick-off to level before Timmer sent the pendulum swinging back in Zwolle’s direction.
However, Karakasis wrestled control back with another equaliser before Amanatidis scored twice in quick succession to send the tie in his side’s direction.
Goals: 1-0: Tzortzis, min. 8 (1); 2-0: Passaris, min. 6 (1): 2-1: Timmer, min. 2 (1); 2-2: Van der Steege, min. 11 (2); 3-2: Tsitsaris, min. 9 (3); 3-3: Wolf, min. 9 (3); 3-4: Timmer, min. 6 (3); 4-4: Karakasis, min. 6 (3); 5-4: Amanatidis, min. 5 (3); 6-4 Amanatidis: min. 4 (3),
Shishin at the double as Kristall shine again
Euro Winners Cup champions BSC Kristall have maximum points from two outings after seeing off a plucky CD Melistar side 4-0.
Shishin’s delightful angled volley into the far corner got things going for the champions but, in a low-key first period, Melistar managed to frustrate their opponents and cause problems.
Indeed, Avgustov was required to save from Amin but Kristall punished their opponents’ lack of cutting edge when Shishin hammered in from the halfway line.
Melistar’s finishing continued to hold them back in the final period while Avgustov was strong when called on.
But Bruno Xavier showed the quality at Kristall’s disposal when he produced a stunning lob from out wide to beat Christian.
Shishin was denied a hat-trick when he struck the crossbar late on but Kristall did enough to make it two wins from two in Group B.
Goals: 1-0: Shishin, min. 8 (1); 2-0: Shishin, min. 4 (2); 3-0: Bruno Xavier, min. 10 (3);
Hosts Catania stay perfect against Borisov
Euro Winners Cup hosts DomusBet Catania pulled clear at the top of Group A with a 6-3 win over Bate Borisov as day two drew to a close.
Both sides won their opening games on Monday and Rodrigo fired an early warning short when he rattled the post while Zurlo went one better – finding the far corner to break the deadlock.
It proved a captivating contest however, with Bate holding firm as Catania went in search of a second.
The second eventually came through Rodrigo, who first prodded home unmarked from inside the area and then angled a shot into the far corner to make it three soon after.
Karpov’s long-range stunner reduced the deficit and Slautin struck the post but Rodrigo wrapped up his hat-trick from the spot soon after to settle any Catania nerves.
A free-kick from Palazzalo squirmed into the corner of the net prior to Karpov’s second but Catania remained a distance in front as Zurlo registered his brace in acrobatic fashion.
Samsonov tapped in the final goal of the game but it was Catania who claimed the advantage at the top of the group after an accomplished display.
Goals: 1-0: Zurlo, min. 8 (1); 2-0: Rodrigo, min 4 (2); 3-0: Rodrigo, min. 2 (2); 3-1: Karpov, min. 2 (2); 4-1: Rodrigo, min. 7 (3); 5-1: Palazzalo, min. 5 (3); 5-2: Karpov, min. 3 (3); 6-2: Zurlo, min 2 (3); 6-3: Samsonov, min. 0 (3)
