Czech Republic, Hungary, Netherlands, Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Russia, Italy and Portugal, with two victories book their berth
Czech Republic secures berth among the best 16
The Czech Republic kept on the same efficient mood today against Romania to be the first team in group F to get the ticket for the Round of 16 of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. After they wonderful performance yesterday against France, beating Les Bleus 4-6, the Czechs cannot be considered that “surprising” up to this point, although they amusingly managed to disarm such a competitive team as the Romanian in a rather stunning way.
Goals and goals was, indeed, their formula to edge the Carpathian squad. With an spectacular aim, Lukic’s side seemed to turn into gold every ball they happen to touch, what allowed them a comfortable advantage by first minutes of second period: 0-3 (Hurab, Filinger and Stejskal). Replying any hit by Romania with a new stroke, the Czechs kept a safe distance in the score, letting their opponent never closer than two goals down during the whole game.
Not even in the crazy last period, in which six goals were scored, Romania came close to the points. May the Romanians curse the posts of Zidlicky’s goal, but the truth is that Gindac was saved, at least a similar number of times, by the wood surrounding his nets. Despite the stroke exchange, then, the Czech never lost their dominant position in the game, an conquered their six points that guarantee them a place into next round.
Goals: 0-1: Hurab, min. 0 (1); 0-2: Filinger, min. 10 (2); 0-3: Stejskal, min. 9 (2); 1-3: Raj, min. 9 (2); 1-4: Chalupa, min. 6 (2); 1-5: Bocek, min. 10 (3); 2-5: Maci, min. 10 (3); 3-5: Gindac, min. 5 (3); 3-6: Stejskal, min. 1 (3); 4-6: Tase, min. 1 (3); 4-7: Kovarik, min. 0 (3);
Tight 2-1 gets Hungary the ticket to next round
Caution was the major theme in the match facing Hungary and Bulgaria, which secured the Magyar a place in the next round of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. In a game with few goal chances, most of the attacking moves fell in the long-range shot approach. Losing the match would mean the end of the road for the Bulgarian, and Hungary wanted to secure all their possible chances to be in the Round of sixteen of the tournament.
De Celis’ side hit first, with Badalik made the most of the ball rejected by Belinov after Ughy’s header. Despite the laudable effort by the Bulgarian goalkeeper to deny the first attempt by the Magyar number 8, Badalik was at the right place at the right time to tap the ball in and give his side an advantage they would never lose. The 1-0 lasted for most of the game, as Bulgaria were not for heading up front and leaving their rearguard too uncovered, and Hungary felt that they had already done most of the job. It was not until the last stage in the third period that the game gained a bit of intensity, mainly thanks to the fact that, with Jaksa’s second hit, Bulgaria had little to lose and turned to a much more attacking approach.
That finally got some goal chances and a faster pace, and even got Hristov’s goal for Bulgaria. The Bulgarian hit came rather late, though and the remaining seconds were not enough to complete the assault. With six points out of six, the Hungarian will play tomorrow against Italy to decide who gets the higher place n Group E.
Goals: 1-0: Badalik, min. 4 (1); 2-0: Jaksa, 1 (3); 2-1: Moni, min. 0 (3).
Amazing last minute earns Netherlands a place in 1/16
A brilliant last leg, crowned with an astonishing last minute, got Netherlands from being 4-2 down against Spain, to the next round of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. After being behind the Spaniards during most of the game, the Orange brought in an unbelievable comeback, with two goals in the last 40 seconds, to snatch La Roja the points and the ticket to the Round of 16.
After a goalless first period, Ran and Amarelle gave the second one a really busy beginning, with the Dutch goalie opening the score and the Spanish Maestro counteracting twice to get Spain in command. Joaquín Alonso’s side dominion lasted for most of the remaining game, as Koswal managing the 3-2 immediately found Cristian Torres’ reply to keep things apparently safe for Spain.
But a crazy last minutes by the Dutch turned the whole match amazingly around. The Orange side had been taking advantage of that stage to keep growing and growing on the sand, ready to tackle their last push in the game. Tosch’s 4-3 was just the preview of what Kokmeijer’s side was to accomplish in the last 40 seconds of the game. When Koswal equalized things with less than one minute to go, Spain regretted to have to fight in the extra time for a victory they had had in their hands, without even imagining that Van Gessel, almost under the final whistle would not even let them this chance. The Netherlanders number 12 got in control of a lost ball in the middle of the field and sent it to Dona’s back of the net, making his whole team go crazy for such a stunt pulled, one, at the same time, that secures them a place into next round.
Goals: 0-1: Ran, min. 10 (2); 1-1: Amarelle, min. 9 (2); 2-1: Amarelle, min. 9 (2); 3-1: Aceiton, min. 5 (2); 3-2: Tosch, min. 5 (2); 4-2: Cristian T., min. 3 (2); 4-3: Tosch, min. 3 (3); 4-4: Koswal, min. 0 (3); 4-5: Van Gessel, min. 0 (3)
Sharp Turkey sends Norway home (8-2)
Turkey got quickly even with the bad taste in their mouths after their opening game against Netherland, and a convincing and loud victory today against Norway got them tuned up again. The Ottoman, who gave their opponents no chance during the whole game, cruised to a final 8-2 result that gives them the chance to get into next round. They’ll need a good result in their game against Spain tomorrow, though, with Netherlands already among the best 16.
Yet in the first period, the Turkish showed that they would save no efforts in securing the points the sooner the better, and these initial 12 minutes were blown over with an unbalanced 4-0 in the score. Salveson wanted to raise the Norwegians’ voice, but that was immediately silenced by Kerem, Ayhan and Onur for the 8-1 by mid third period.
Despite Senja’s new hit for the Vikings, there was little Norway could do at that point, and Turkey saw their chances to the next round rebirth. It’s in their hands now, but Spain is a really tough opponent to face, especially considering that La Roja cannot afford another setback if they want to go ahead, too. Norway, in turn, is left with no options for next round, as their goalaverage records sink them down the table in group D
Goals: 1-0: Tamer, min 10 (1); 2-0: Yücel, min. 9 (1); 3-0: Kerem, min. 7(1); 4-0: Kerem, min. 6 (1); 4-1: Salvenson, min. 2 (2); 5-1: Kerem, min. 2 (2); 6-1: Kerem, min. 0 (2); 7-1: Ayhan, min. 10 (3); 8-1: Onur, min. 7 (3); 8-2: Senja, min. 3 (3).
Another tight win has defending Champions in next round
Beach Soccer fans wonder whether the fact that current defending champions are finding it so hard to seal their wins, against a priori not-dangerous opponents, responds to a stamina-saving strategy or it is just that they are not finding their best own version in these two first days in Moscow. Notwithstanding , after beating Moldova today, Ukraine has already canceled their ticked to the next rounds, as, with six points out of six, no one will have them third in the group.
Today’s win by Kucherenko’s side was mainly built during the first period, in which Andrii Borsuk’s double, and Zborovski drove things to a comfortable 3-0. Three goals down that early, it seemed almost impossible for the Moldovan to counteract the Ukranian rent. As minutes went by, moreover, this venture turned even more difficult and, although Budiga opened his team’s records, Moldova’s weapons seemed no harmful enough against the thick Ukrainian shield.
Tomorrow, things will be absolutely different for defending champions. Although their place in the Round of 16 is already secured, they will need to show much more than what they have been doing if they want to get the first place in the table, as their battle against Portugal in the last group-stage game is going to be an extremely different story.
Goals: 1-0: A. Borsuk, min. 10 (1); 2-0: A. Borsuk, min. 4 (1); 3-0: Zborovskyi, min. 3 (1); 3-1: Budiga, min. 8 (3);
Belarus edge Azerbaijan to write history (2-3)
Belarus made history today, securing their place in the next round of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. To do so, the Belarusian needed to lead an amazing comeback against Azerbaijan, who were struggling for exactly the same big thing. The winner of this match would definitely get into the round of sixteen, and that was important enough for them to fight all their chances.
That brought a really tight and tense game, in which the Azeri managed to surprise their opponents with two goals that got them 2-0 ahead by mid second period. Belarus, in turn, could not let such a big achievement as beating Switzerland be left worthless, and fought with a terrific spirit to fix the difficult situation they were facing. Fortunately for them, their spirited reaction found the desired prize, and, in just three minutes Bryshtsel and Karpan leveled things back.
Bogaichuk’s side was now in the best mood to go on and accomplish the full comeback, something they did through Bokach’s winner. The last period saw Azerbaijan putting the Belarusian goal into siege, but nothing worked for them. The final whistle fell like a bucket of cold water over the Azeri’s heads, who after having their ticket really close today will have to fight fearful Switzerland tomorrow to get any chance of going on in the competition. Not easy, indeed…
Goals: 1-0: Vitaliy, min. 7 (1); 2-0: Elhad, min. 7 (2); 2-1: Bryshtsel, min. 6 (2); 2-2: Karpan, min. 3 (2); 2-3: Bokach, min.0 (2);
France gets back on the fight after beating Estonia (4-3)
France suffered during the last minutes of their match against Estonia today, but the final whistle got them the points to get back on the right place to tackle the fight for the ticket to next round of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. Despite having the match under control and building a wide advantage during the second period, the Estonians menaced Les Bleus win at the last stage of the win. The Menace, fortunately for François’ team, was not executed.
After yesterday’s hitch against the Czech Republic, France needed a convincing victory against Estonia, who had already made things quite difficult for Romania the day before. That they were to be an uncomfortable opponent was something the French already knew, but when Tammo opened the score for his side, all that got confirmed. It was not easy for France to counteract the Estonian opener, and it was not until the end of the period that Pagis brought his team the ease to see things clear again.
After that leveled first period, France took the reins of the game, and Samoun, Edouard and Basquaise raised the score to 4-1, thus giving the game an undeniable French colour. Despite the wide distance, Estonia did not give up, and managed to have the French cornered for the last minutes, after Saharov and Lukk achieved the 4-3. The final whistle left things just as they were, though, and France earned their first three points in the competition to keep all their options to go ahead to next round.
Goals: 0-1: Tammo, min. 7 (1); 1-1: Pagis, min. 2 (1) ; 2-1 : Samoun, min. 10 (2) ; 3-1 : Edouard, min. 9 (2) ; 4-1 : Basquaise, min. 0 (2) ; 4-2 Saharov, min. 5 (3) ; 4-3 : Lukk, min. 4 (3)
Poland runs over Latvia to join the top-16
Poland keeps giving new instances of being becoming one of the big guys in European Beach Soccer day after day. Today, with an extremely powerful and determined display, ran past Latvia to get a thundering 11-3 that guarantees them the place in the round of 16 of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. With Saganowski and Friszkemut living a very sweet moment, it is difficult to determine the Polish limits…
Unleashing a 7-0 run in the first period leaves few to comment on, other than an amusing and terrific superiority over a helpless Latvian side, which could not find the way to plug the goal hemorrhage they were being inflicted.
Dombrovskis 8-1, after Saganowski’s brilliant header for his third, was somehow the break the Latvian side needed. That goal let them stand up a bit, and, despite Friszkemut’s 9-1, they conceded no more goals until Dombrovskis’ new hit for the 9-2. Poland, with most of the work already done, was now trying to keep the ball and build collective moves, without the thirst they had been showing during the early stages in the game. In that last minutes, both teams exchanged strokes, harmlessly, regarding the course of the game, what completed the laudable records by Saganowski (4 goals today), Friszkemut (3 goals) and Dombrovskis (3 goals for Latvia). The final 11-3, then, gets Poland on in the competition and sends Latvia home, as their chances to become one of the best third sides are almost inexistent.
Goals: 1-0: Widzicki, min. 11 (1); 2-0: Ziober, min. 10 (1); 3-0: Slowinski, min. 9 (1); 4-0: Saganowski, min. 5 (1); 5-0: Saganowski, min. 3 (1); 6-0: Golanski, min. 2 (1); 7-0: Friszkemut, min. 0 (1); 8-0: Saganowski, min. 11 (2); 8-1: Dombrovskis, min. 10 (2); 9-1: Friszkemut, min. 8 (2); 9-2: Dombrovskis, min 9 (3); 10-2: Saganoski, min.9 (3); 10-3: Dombrovskis, min. 3 (3); 11-3: Friszkemut , min.1 (3).
Switzerland forgets yesterday’s setback inflicting England a heavy defeat
England were the ones to bear the brunt after Switzerland’s surprising defeat against Belarus in the first day of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. The current Euro Beach Soccer League runner-ups, amusingly inspired today, punished once and again the English nets, trying to find their best version before getting on the decider stages of the tournament, with target man Dejan Stankovic bagging five of his team’s goals.
It was soon made rather clear that Switzerland wanted to make the afternoon as tough as possible for Bowes’ side, with Mo and Rodrigues sweeping the Alpine 2-0 ahead during the first minutes. The 2-1 by Funnel made England believe in their possibilities to end up upsetting Switzerland, but before it was too late, Stankovic got his team back on the right track with the 3-1, cutting any chance of English reaction.
Back with the match under control, and banking on such an stunning amount of talent, Schirinzi’s lads began feeling stronger and stronger. In those minutes, the Swiss terrific pace got the match almost killed, with a 5-0 run that left the score 8-1 at the end of the second period. Things did not change much during the last leg, in which Stankovic closed his stunning performance with two more hits to widen the distance up to 10-1. With this loud final result, Switzerland just needs to bend Azerbaijan’s in tomorrow’s match to get amongst the best 16, whereas really few chances to next round are left for England.
Goals: 1-0: Mo, min. 9 (1); 2-0: Rodrigues, min. 7 (1); 2-1: Funnell, min. 5 (1); 3-1: Stankovic, min. 3 (1); 4-1: Spacca, min. 7 (2); 5-1: Stankovic, min. 6 (2); 6-1: Stankovic, min. 4 (2); 7-1: Rodrigues, min. 3 (2); 8-1: Ziegler, min. 2 (2); 9-1: Stankovic, min. 6 (3); 9-1: Stankovic, min. 4 (3);
Russia sinks Germany to get into next round
Nothing will detach Russia from their first objective in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier they are hosting in Moscow. The current World Champions got rid of Germany today and secured their place in the next round of the tournament. The German side, in turn, despite fielding a formidable resistance during the first stages of the game, will have to loudly win Latvia tomorrow if they want to see any chance of getting into the best 16 teams in Europe.
Despite Russia got an early lead to today’s fixture, thanks to Shkarin, it was never easy for them to find the German end during the first period, which ended solely with the number seven’s hit unbalancing the score. The Mannschaft resisted firmly to the varied and dangerous resources of Likhachev’s team during the first 20 minutes. But the hosts pressure ended up finding further reward, and in just two minutes, Leonov and Shishin raised the 3-0 in the score.
Germany had not had their last say, and Ulle proved they were not going to give up, without, at least, trying to cause the world rulers some harm. But, after the last break, Russia went on with their mission, and punished the German cheekiness with three new goals, the ones seeing Shishin and Makarov complete their double to, besides confirming their team’s go-through to next round, get their names written up high in the top scorer chart.
Goals: 1-0: Shkarin, min. 5 (1); 2-0: Leonov, min. 7 (2); 3-0: Shishin, min. 5 (2); 3-1: Ulle, min. 2 (2); 4-1: Shishin, min. 8 (3); 5-1: Makarov, min. 5 (3); 6-1: Makarov, min. 4 (3);
Italy gets into next round from the penalty kick spot (4/4-4/3)
Israel turned into a really harsh opponent for Italy in the second day of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. The Azzurri needed to sweat out a victory from the penalty kick shootout after being unable to bend the mighty Israelis during the regular time and the three additional minutes. With Sapir’s missing the fourth penalty for his side, Italy got automatically qualified for the next round, whereas Israel will need little a lot of luck and goals to get into next round.
Lam’s side caught the Transalpine absolutely by during the first minutes of the game. Their spirited display and their high pace made it difficult for the Italians to find the way to get their teeth on them and, instead, it was Danin the one sweeping Israel ahead. That early fright was accompanied little afterwards by Iloz’s 0-2, triggering the Italian alarms. Immediately after, though, Esposito’s lads, pushed by an incisive Diego Armando Maradona Jr., turned the score around in the twinkling of an eye, destroying all what Israel had built.
Before the end of the period, Maradona hit again to get his team the 4-2, what seemed the definitive Italian take off. Unluckily for them, there came Iloz again, to cut the Azzurri wings and enlighten his teammates hearts again to fight for a new equalizer. Israel struggled for the 4-4 during the whole last period, and, when it seemed that there was no way to achieve it, Levi broke the bank with just some seconds to go, sending the game into extra time.
The additional three minutes saw no change in the score, and the referee pointed the 9-meter line to rule who was to take the points. The thrilling shootout finally saw Sapir missing his attempt to confirm Italy as another of the best 16 ranked teams in the competition.
Goals: 0-1: Danin, min. 3 (1); 0-2: Iloz, min. 11 (2); 1-2: Gori, min. 11 (2); 2-2: Maradona, min. 10 (2); 3-2: Ramacciotti, min. 10 (2); 4-2: Maradona, min. 1 (2); 4-3: Iloz, min. 1 (2); 4-4: Levi, min. 0 (3);
Penalty shootout: Leghissa, in; Yatim, in; Maradona, in; Iloz, in; Pasquali, in; Badash, in; Sciuto, in; Sapir, out.
Portugal crushes Greece in the third period (9-2)
Portugal is the last of the teams to have secured in this second day of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 the passport to the round of sixteen. To do so, though, they have had to overcome a really intense resistance by Greece during the first two periods, but their superior beach soccer quality have ended making the difference during the last stage, when tiredness began to be felt, heavily, in the Greeks’ legs.
During the first two periods, Portugal found it impossible to bend a Greek team that had even managed to open the score and reply Madjer’s 2-1 with the 2-2 equalizer. The effort carried out by Soilemes side was absolutely titanic, as there is a lot to do when you face the likes of Belchior, Madjer or Alan, and such amount of work, necessarily, catches up with you.
When legs began not to respond as fast as they used to do, the Portuguese skill prevailed. Yet in the last stages of the second period, the Iberian began finding better moves, and their ball movement became more effective. When Luis Vaz and Madjer scored the 3-2 and 4-2 before the second horn, the end of the way for Greece began to get written. In the third period, Portugal’s terrific pace did not flag a bit, something the Hellenic could not cope with, and Nikolau’s nets got hit once and again. The 0-5 run in that last leg sealed the final 9-2, and opened the door to next round for Ze Miguel’s team.
Goals: 0-1: Papastahopoulos, min. 8 (1); 1-1:Belchior, min. 8 (1); 2-1: Madjer, min. 11 (2); 2-2: Gkritzalkis, min. 10 (2); 3-2: Luis Vaz, min. 3 (2); 4-2: Madjer, min. 1 (2); 5-2: Belchior, min. 10 (3); 6-2: Belchior, min. 9 (3); 7-2: Alan, min. 5 (3); 8-2: Madjer, min. 4 (3); 9-2: Belchior, min. 3 (3);
