The opening press conference gives the Power Horse Euro Beach Soccer League Berlin the official starting signal
The Power Horse Euro Beach Soccer League Berlin 2012 was today officially kicked-off, with the official opening press conference held at the O2 World. Detlef Müller, the event’s Promoter, Andrew de Gruchy, BSWW Head of Marketing, Moritz Hillebrand, Spokesman of the O2 World Berlin and Vice President Anschutz Entertainment Group, and Siegbert Brutschin, tournament director, sat the press conference. The German National Beach Soccer team was represented by its coach, Nils Börinschulte and its captain, Oliver Romrig.
Moritz Hillebrand opened the conference, voicing how great it feels for O2 World to have the Euro Beach Soccer League here again this year. “We are really glad to have such an important Beach Soccer event back by the O2 World. Just as we saw last year, the atmosphere it build is amazing, young and trendy, exactly what the O2 thinks any spectacle should be. As far as we can, we will always support Beach Soccer in our facilities”.
Andrew de Gruchy, Beach Soccer Worldwide Head of Marketing took then the floor “to specially thank the sponsors, Power Horse, the O2 World, Erhard Sports, Müllers Fanshop and Brutschin Eventservice, together with Russian Railways and NH Hotels, for their thorough support. Without their trust and confidence this event would hardly have happened. They have showed a strong commitment to the sport and we want to thank them for that. We see a bright future for our sport in Berlin, and we will be absolutely coming here for the next seasons”.
Oliver Romrig and Nils Böringschulte raised the sporting side, with the team’s captain assuring that “last year we experienced a wonderful tournament which did not end as good as we wanted. This year, we hope the tournament to be as good, and to make the most of our possibilities of winning the stage”. Similarly, Böringschulte said that “We want to win, not just to participate, and we have been training hard with that idea in mind. We are still a bit far from the best sides in Europe, but the team is highly motivated to play at our best level”.
After the Mannschaft representatives, the tournament director Siegbert Brutschin explained the competition schedule, with the four Division A teams, including the World Champions Russia, and four Division B sides, with Germany facing Greece, Azerbaijan and Turkey. Moreover, Brutschin detailed some of the features of the stadium, which has been built “always aiming at a high rate of functionality”.
The event’s Promoter, Detlef Müller closed the press conference, pointing that “after the wonderful first edition of the tournament, we had no doubt in having it happening again this year, the same way we see nothing else than being linked for the future with this spectacular sport, and to have it happening in such an special setting, the best in the city”. In addition, Müller did not want to end this opening act without remembering the important role of the sponsors of this event, which have been taking a really active part in the creation and support to this Power Horse Euro Beach Soccer League 2012.
