50 nominees become just three as the race for Best Player of the Year intensifies
Bruno Xavier, Datinha and Llorenç are the remaining three nominees in the running for the Best Player of the Year, as the list of 50 nominees is cut to just three.
The winner of the award will be revealed at the Beach Soccer Stars gala that will take place on the 10th November at the V Hotel Dubai Curio Collection by Hilton (previously known as the W Dubai).
This flashy event will cap off one of the most important and alluring tournaments in the beach soccer calendar: the Huawei Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup Dubai.
All three nominees will star in the very first match of the competition, when Brazil take on Spain on the 6th of November, at 16:15 (GMT+4) – you don’t want to miss that one! All matches from the Huawei Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup Dubai 2018 will be live on the Beach Soccer Worldwide website.
Bruno Xavier and Datinha are current holders of the Huawei Intercontinental Cup with the Brazilian national team, having won it on three occasions. They are also holders of the World Cup and the Liga Sudamericana de Beach Soccer de CONMEBOL.
Both Brazilians played essential roles for European clubs over the summer, earning them even more of a reputation in the world of beach soccer.
After making the final three nominees in 2017, Bruno Xavier was beaten to the award last year by his Brazilian teammate Mauricinho, will he go one step further this year?
But Spanish number ten, Llorenç, is also no stranger to the podium, having won numerous individual awards over the last year including Top Scorer in the EBSL Warnemunde, Perian Beach Soccer Cup and the Euro Winners Cup and MVP in the EBSL Superfinal and Bahamas Beach Soccer Cup.
He also won both the Top Scorer and MVP award for the Russian league whilst playing for CSKA Moscow.
But only one of these three beach soccer masters can lift the final trophy to round off their brilliant year… who do you think it will be?
