Francisco Petrasso, legendary Argentine coach, attends in key teaching role of the FIFA-sponsored beach soccer course in Dominican Republic
In Santo Domingo, the Dominican Football association, Fedofutbol, has joined forces with FIFA to establish a course for beach soccer coaching in the Dominican Republic.
The maiden instalment is currently taking place (ending September 14th) and brings together experts from the 32 branches of Fedofutol. The renowned ex-coach of Argentina, Francisco Petrasso, is also in attendance as a guest expert, brought in by FIFA to assist and enhance the coaching methods.
The participants stay in the onsite accommodation, at the facilities of of the Goal project in San Cristóbal, where the course in taking place. The practical, beach-based activities are carried out at the nearby Playa de Juan Dolio.
“This course aims to continue raising the level of quality of the Dominican managers and coaches in order to strengthen the promotion and development of beach soccer in the Dominican Republic”, said Ramón Sánchez, Fedofutbol’s Director of Development.
Petrasso also had a few words to share on his vision for the future of beach soccer in the country, saying that the Dominican Republic had many beaches that could be devoted to the development of the sport.
“Here you have everything: pedigree, beaches and people with desire to play.” insisted the Argentine during a speech given to the dozens of participants, who had travelled from all over the country to attend the FIFA-backed course.
These are more positive signs in the development of beach soccer, from another great nation. As more projects and courses spring up all over the globe, backed by the likes of FIFA, it is clear to see that beach soccer is growing fast, and on an international scale.
