FIFA beach soccer course held in Uruguay

Ramiro Amarelle directs FIFA beach soccer course in Montevideo

The end of 2018 saw AUF (Uruguayan Football Association) combine forces with FIFA to put on a beach soccer course in the country’s capital of Montevideo.

The course was aimed at beach soccer coaches, players, trainers and all those interested in expanding their knowledge of the sport.

Taking place over several days, the course was overseen by former Spanish international and current coach of the Chinese nation team, Ramiro Amarelle.

The Spaniard, seen by many of one of the best players in the history of the sport, gave a seminar each day to the attendees, and was assisted in the delivering the course by the coach of the Uruguay national beach soccer team, Miguel Aguirrezabala.

Following the seminars in the morning, the afternoons consisted of a more practical approach, as the course traded the lecture hall for Pocitos Beach to put the morning’s theory into practice.

A wide range of topics were covered throughout the program, including the development of the national team, the specifics of goalkeeping in beach soccer and the different formations and line-ups used to structure a team.

A closing ceremony took place on the final day, and in addition to the course instructor and the President of Beach Soccer of the AUF Kevork Kouyoumdjian, the Director of Development of the AUF Gustavo Bañales also shared a few words, commenting on the positive state and growing potential of Uruguayan beach soccer.

It is true that the sport is developing at an impressive rate on the South American continent, with Uruguay out in front as one of the leading instigators.
