Germany, Portugal, Spain and host win on the opening day
The opening day of the Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal Viareggio 2026 took place across groups A and B

Group A
Germany win 4-2 against Denmark in a penalty shootout, after a 2-2 draw
Germany secured a point after edging Denmark 4–2 on penalties following a thrilling 2–2 draw in the opening Group A match of the Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal Viareggio 2026. Denmark struck first late in the opening period, with Jensen finding the net to give his side a 1–0 lead at the first break.
Germany levelled just before the second period closed, when Kaufmann found the net to make it 1–1. The game remained finely balanced in the third period, with De Fries restoring Denmark’s lead before Peterson struck for Germany to make it 2–2 and force extra time.
Neither side could find a winner during the additional period, sending the contest to a penalty shootout. Germany held their nerve from the spot, winning the shootout 4–2 to take the opening point from a closely fought Group A encounter.
Portugal win 4-1 against Belarus
In the second Group A match, Portugal and Belarus saw a goalless opening period, as both sides struggled to convert their chances, leaving the game at 0–0.
The deadlock was finally broken four minutes from the end of the second period when Tim found the net to put Portugal ahead. Belarus responded a minute later through Ryabko, but Brilhante quickly restored Portugal’s advantage before Tim completed his brace to send Portugal into the final period with a 3–1 lead.
Portugal continued to control the game in the final period, with Brilhante striking early to add his second goal and complete a 4–1 victory.
Group B
Spain win 11-10 against Switzerland
Ramy struck twice inside the opening two minutes to give Spain an early 2–0 lead, before Knöpfli pulled one back for Switzerland. Chiky Ardil restored Spain’s two-goal advantage, but Hodel, Knöpfli and Reber turned the game around for Switzerland, while D. Ardil and Chiky added further goals for Spain.
The scoring continued at pace in the second period, with Switzerland finding the net three times and Spain four times. The Spaniards held a narrow 9–8 advantage heading into the final period, setting up a tense finish to an already high-scoring contest.
Both sides added two more goals in an intense final period, but Spain managed to protect their slim advantage. The 11–10 victory gives Spain a winning start to their Group B campaign.
Italy win 9-2 against Moldova
Italy raced into a commanding lead against Moldova, scoring four times before Stavila finally got Moldova on the scoresheet to close the opening period at 4–1. The hosts controlled the early stages and established a strong advantage from the outset.
Italy continued their dominance in the second period, adding three more goals to extend their lead to 7–1. Moldova managed to pull one back, but Italy remained firmly in control as the score stood at 7–2 heading into the final period.
The hosts completed an emphatic 9–2 victory in the third period, with Fazinni and Reggio adding the final goals of the game.
