The Hungarian town hosts the fourth of five regular stages this weekend.
The Euro Beach Soccer League reaches its penultimate regular stage this weekend when the action resumes in Siofok, Hungary on Friday.
With a number of places still up for grabs for both the Superfinal and Promotion Final in September, there will be plenty riding on the games in Hungary, with the hosts making their 2017 debut alongside Denmark, Andorra and Bulgaria.
While the group winners from each of the four stages with Division B present will head directly to next month’s Promotion Final, the race will be on to ensure one of the remaining three spots by way of being among the top three runners-up.
Only results against the teams in the top three this weekend will count towards the overall standings, ramping up the pressure on those looking to reach the final in Terracina and, subsequently, the top tier.
Azerbaijan were the team to manage that last year, even winning the Division B stage in Siofok 12 months ago, and they embark on their Division A adventure against some big names.
Ilham Azizzade’s side kick off against five-time winners Portugal on Friday evening while Nicolas ‘Nico’ Caporale’s in-form Belarus and European champions Poland complete a strong top tier.
While Portugal and Belarus – with eight and six points respectively – are all but certain to feature in Terracina, Poland have work to do on four points while Azerbaijan are the only Division A side yet to get their campaign underway.
