Belarus, Portugal, Switzerland, hosts Spain, and Ukraine’s women build on opening victories

MEN
Group A
Switzerland win 8-1 against Lithuania

Switzerland made a dominant start against Lithuania, racing into a three-goal lead in the opening period through a brace from Borer and another strike from Steinemann.

Borer completed his hat-trick early in the second period before Hodel added another to stretch Switzerland’s advantage to 5–0. Makutunovičius pulled one back for Lithuania, but Steinemann struck again seconds before the end of the period to restore the Swiss side’s five-goal cushion.

In the final period, Hodel completed his brace while Knöpfli also found the net to wrap up an emphatic 8–1 victory for Switzerland.

Spain win 6-4 against Poland
Late drama defined the opening period as Poźniak gave Poland the lead before Kuman responded moments later for Spain, with both goals arriving within the closing minutes to leave the score level at 1–1 heading into the first break.

Poland took control in the second period through goals from Kosmal and Fudala to open a two-goal advantage. Gatica pulled one back late in the period, but Pietrasiak restored Poland’s cushion seconds before the end of the period. Spain responded immediately as Chiky Ardil struck twice to level the contest at 4–4 heading into the final period.

Kuman and Pepe delivered in the closing period, finding the net to complete Spain’s comeback and secure a thrilling 6–4 victory.

Group B
Belarus win 8-3 against Czechia

Bryshtsel opened the scoring for Belarus in the fourth minute of the opening period, but late goals from Radosta and Trampota turned the game in Czechia’s favour at 2–1. Belarus responded quickly before the break, as Piatrouski found the equaliser to make it 2–2.

Belarus regained control early in the second period through Hardzetski’s strike just a minute after the restart. Czechia pushed for a response but were unable to find the net as Belarus held on to their narrow lead heading into the final period.

Vales levelled the contest at 3–3 early in the third period, but Belarus responded emphatically with five unanswered goals. Chaikouski, a brace from Bryshtsel, alongside strikes from Kanstantsinau and Goalkeeper Avgustov to seal a dominant 8–3 victory.

Portugal win 8-2 against Türkiye
Portugal took full control in the opening period, as Leo Martins struck twice early on before Coimbra added a late goal to hand the Portuguese side a comfortable 3–0 advantage.

Türkiye responded strongly at the start of the second period through goals from Uğur and Hazar to reduce the deficit, but Portugal quickly regained momentum. Bernardo, Fábio, and Pola all found the net to extend the lead to 6–2 heading into the final period.

Portugal remained dominant in the final period as Tim scored early before Leo Martins completed his hat-trick to seal an emphatic 8–2 victory

WOMEN
Switzerland win 6-1 against England
Switzerland made a strong start in the opening period, with Eisenegger and Küffer both finding the net to give the Swiss a 2-0 lead. England struggled to settle into the game early on as Switzerland controlled the tempo.

England responded early in the second period through a brilliant finish from Elouath to reduce the deficit. However, Switzerland quickly regained control as Eisenegger struck again to restore their two-goal cushion, taking a 3-1 lead into the final period.

Switzerland continued their dominance in the closing period, with Küffer adding her second of the game before Inderwildi extended the advantage. An own goal from England further compounded their difficulties as the Swiss closed out a convincing 6-1 victory.

Ukraine win 4-1 against Czechia
Ukraine took an early lead in the opening period through Klipachenko, setting the tone with a composed finish to put them 1-0 ahead. Czechia struggled to create clear openings as Ukraine maintained control.

The second period saw Ukraine extend their advantage, with Kostiuk and Koval both finding the net to stretch the lead to 3-0. Their intensity and attacking movement kept Czechia on the back foot heading into the final period.

Czechia briefly responded early in the third period through Cizova, pulling one back just after the restart. However, Ukraine reasserted dominance as Shulha struck late to seal a confident 4-1 victory.
