The Cuscatleco side edge Paraguay in the final of the Juegos Bolivarianos de Playa 2016
A 5-3 win over Paraguay had El Salvador claiming the gold medal in the Juegos Bolivarianos de Playa Iquique 2016.
The match was fiercely fought all throughout, but the Salvadorans managed to stay ahead all the time after the first period, which ended 1-1. Batres and Elmer had things 3-1 in the first minutes of the second frame, and despite Carballo pulled one back for Paraguay, El Salvador would not lose the control of the game.
Two goals by captain Tin Ruiz in the third period sealed the win for the Cuscatlecos.
After the Albirroja hit first with an extra time 5-4 win in the last match of the group phase, Guga’s side seem to get to this final in a better moral condition. But Rudis Gallo and his lads quickly forgot about that game and hit the sand with their usual spirited beach soccer, which proved too much for Paraguay this time.
Chile bags bronze
Hosts Chile could close these Juegos Bolivarianos keeping the bronze medal, thanks to an amazing third period reaction in their game against Ecuador.
La Roja overcame Ecuador’s 2-4 run in the second frame, and reacted with three goals in the last 12 minutes to claim the last of the medals at stake.
