The Cuscatlecos and the Guarani prevail over Costa Rica and Spain in the opening day of the Copa Pílsener
El Salvador gave their boisterous crowd a brilliant win in their debut in this Copa Pílsener Fútbol Playa 2013 they are hosting in the Costa del Sol. That was a really hard-fought win, though, as Costa Rica made things really difficult in the first period. Despite Portillo swept the Cuscatlecos ahead, Rodríguez, Córdoba and Mena counteracted to give the Ticos a significant lead.
Elmer could pull one back before the end of the first period, and that meant the beginning of a powerful comeback for the hosts. The notable second leg brought on by Gallo?s side had the score going from 2-3 to the 6-3, thanks to the contribution by Agustín, Frank and Elmer.
Costa Rica would tighten the distance through Jhonson, but along came one of the local heroes, Frank, to set clear that the points would not flee from Salvadorian hands. Little afterwards, Elmer would seal the win for the hosts with his third hit today. The match was undeniably under Cuscatleco?s dominion as Frank proved, making Mendoza?s 5-8 a meaningless effort. The final 5-9 pushes the Azul playera on top of the chart of this Copa Pílsener 2013.

Paraguay upset another giant: Spain (4-6)
In the first match of the day, Paraguay edged Spain to clinch first points in the tournament. After beating Brazil in the recently concluded FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CONMEBOL Qualifier, the Guaraní upset today another giant to confirm a consistent growth.
The match facing Spaniards and Paraguayans was highly entertaining, with the latter taking the first lead. Amarelle, who displayed today a new magic lesson on the sand, had La Roja responding each of the hits by the South American side and pushing the 3-3 in the beginning of the second leg. Juanma took the baton and swept Spain ahead for the first time in the match with just one minute before the end of the period.
But the CONMEBOL runner-ups had not had their last say, yet, and Barrientos leveled things once again with the 4-4. With only two minutes left, any stroke, one end or the other, could be definitive. Spain tried hard, but it was Paraguay who finally grasped the points, thanks to two more goals by López, their key man today.
