The 8 Division A teams, split into two groups, plus Belarus, Czech Rep., Norway & Hungary (Div. B) kick the European League off
Summer is already around the corner in Europe, and, together with warmer temperatures, it brings a new edition of the Euro Beach Soccer League, the yearly pan-european league-format competition involving the top-ranked 20 national teams. Backed by 15 years of history since its first edition in 1998, this exciting continental competition keeps gaining reputation and catching the attention of more and more countries, ready to have the party rocking again this summer in four different venues.
Again with 8 sides in the Division A pool, and 12 more fighting for promotion in Division B, this 2012 edition brings some significant modifications, with two new venues joining the continental showcase, and a restyled format to have all the top-notch squads beginning at the same time. The conditions do not change, though: Only the best 6 ranked teams after the regular stages will earn the right to try to dethrone Russia in the Superfinal, whereas the champions in Division B stages and the best-ranked seconds will be given the chance to fight the 8th team from the top group for a place in the European elite next season.
To begin with, the eight top-flight squads in the competition will hit the sand simultaneously, so to equal conditions and balance things in such a competitive tournament with a “double” event. One of the traditional harbours of Beach Soccer, Italy, will host this special League event, bringing it to a new, bright location: the beautiful seaside resort of Terracina.
One of the sport’s hotspots in the transalpine country, home to the current National League Champion, Terracina will be hosting a six-games-per-day event, with all Division A teams playing every day, split into two groups. Whereas current European rulers Russia, Portugal, Spain and France will jump onto group A, hosts Italy, runner-ups Switzerland, Romania and Poland will be fighting in group B for the first points leading to the EBSL Superfinal (The Hague, August 23rd-26th).
Together with them, Czech Republic, Belarus, Norway and Hungary will try to secure a place in the EBSL Promotion Final.
