UAE National team Dubai National School and Al Mawakeb School and show some tricks to the boys and girls
The future of beach soccer looks even brighter following an inspirational visit to several Dubai schools by some of the UAE’s beach soccer stars.
Members of the UAE Beach Soccer team recently visited over a thousand students from Dubai National School and Al Mawakeb School in Al Barsha.
Some students were given the opportunity to display their skills during a friendly match against the national team.
UAE Head Coach, Brazilian-born Gustavo Zloccowick, “Guga”, said it was a great chance to highlight the team’s success and introduce the game to some future stars.
“It’s a great opportunity for us. We are so happy to come out to the schools and to make a connection with the students. For us this is how we get the new generation of kids to know about beach soccer and get them interested in the sport,” he said.
Shabaan Hussain, Dubai National School Head of Sport, added: “It was an honour for us to host the UAE Beach Soccer team and to play a friendly match with them. As you can see, we had close to 1000 students, and the school’s Principal and entire administration have welcomed our UAE team with pride. We are with our “team in white” and wish them all the best in the Intercontinental Cup.”
The promotional tour comes as the team prepares to face Egypt in the opening round of the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup on Tuesday, November 3, at the Dubai International Marine Club. The match starts at 5.30pm. Entry is free.
The 5th edition of the event takes place from November 3 – 7. Teams participating this year include 2015 FIFA Beach Soccer World Champions Portugal and finalists Tahiti. Previous tournament champions Russia and Iran as well as Egypt and Argentina, together with hosts UAE, will also be on the desert sand.
