The Swiss club are Tobago Beach Soccer Championship winners once again.
There is a familiar name on the trophy for the Tobago Beach Soccer Championship after Swiss side BSC Chargers Baselland lifted the title for the third year in a row on Tobago Beach.
Following successes in 2014 and 2015, Chargers headed to the Caribbean alongside fellow Swiss team Bienne Hatchets, American outfit NorCal BSC, Spartans from Barbados and Venezuelan teams Western Ship Paparazzi and Real Academia.
Beach Soccer TT, Black Rock and POS Patriots made up the home contingent – the latter also entering a side into the women’s tournament along with Antioquia BSC and Tobago Chicas.
After two days of group matches, across Friday and Saturday, Chargers and Beach Soccer TT were the sides to finish top of their respective pools, setting up semis against Real Academia and Western Ship Paparazzi respectively.
Four goals from Llorenc helped Chargers to a 9-2 win against Real Academia while Beach Soccer TT edged a thriller against Western Ship 4-3.
The final initially proved a tight affair as Vinicius Guedes gave Chargers a first-period lead only for the Venezuelan side to equalise early in the second.
From there, Chargers hit their stride and scored twice before the final period through tournament MVP and top scorer Llorenc as well as team-mate Sascha Weirauch.
His German team-mates Oliver Romrig and Christian Biermann then got on the scoresheet in the final frame along with Gabriel.
The women’s competition also concluded on Sunday, as champions Antioquia signed off with a 4-2 win against Tobago Chicas to claim top spot in the three-team pool.
