Portugal, Spain, Japan and Senegal to compete at the Estadio do Viveiro between 13th and 15th of August
This coming August, Nazaré will host one of the most traditional and well-known beach soccer competitions: the BSWW Mundialito. Between the 13th and 15th of August, the Estadio do Viveiro will host the new edition of a tournament every beach soccer fan knows about.
The Mundialito is, in fact, the oldest running beach soccer competition, and this year in Nazaré will experience its 23rd edition. Taking place almost without interruption since 1994, the Mundialito is, without a doubt, one of the most prestigious competitions in the Beach Soccer calendar as well as a regular festival in the Portuguese summer since it was brought to Europe more than 20 years ago.
This year, and in the first edition ever to take place in Nazaré, four top teams will take part in the competition, including, of course, hosts and defending Champions Portugal. Together with them, Iberian neighbours Spain, champions of the competition in 2012, Asian kings Japan and African champions Senegal build up a spectacular lineup for this 2019 edition.
Reigning champions Portugal will try to seize their seventh Mundialito crown on home soil, and keep pursuing Brazil, who, with 14 Mundialitos so far, top the competition records. The Carioca have won 5 of the last 10 editions, but will not be in Nazaré to fight for another crown this year.
With the Mundialito 2019 landing on its shores, Nazaré reconfirms its status as one of the top homes of beach soccer in the world, strengthening its relationship with the sport with yet another step forwards.
