Just weeks after completion of the inaugural CONCACAF Beach Soccer Coaching Course, the second edition opened on Friday in Grand Cayman.
With the world-famous Seven Mile Beach as their pitch, 22 referees and 10 coaches are taking part in the three-day program.
“We are very pleased with the turnout and, most importantly, the younger people here,” said Paul Macey, Acting General Secretary of the Cayman Islands Football Association. “We believe that beach football gives us the opportunity to compete at the highest level and, therefore, we are going to concentrate our efforts to promoting beach football, developing our coaches and referees and giving us an opportunity to perhaps reach a FIFA Beach World Cup.”
The course, which was launched earlier this month in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, places emphasis on the education of coaches and the promotion of beach soccer throughout the confederation.
