Football Queensland organised the event on Saturday 22 January on the Gold Coast
The vast and beautiful beaches of Australia are enjoying more and more beach soccer as the sport continues its trajectory of global growth.
A beach soccer carnival, organised by Football Queensland, took place on the Gold Coast in late January, on Coolangatta Beach.
Five men’s teams and three women’s teams took place in the competition, with a total of 76 players showing their skills on the golden sands.
Hopes are that this event will become a regular feature in the calendar, and will spark more beach soccer competitions in Australia, as well as the potential return of the national team, the Beach Socceroos.
