The Dubai-based side, boasting Portuguese sorcerers Madjer and Belchior, beat Al Nasr to claims the UAE League again
Al Ahli was crowned champions for the second time after defeating Al Nasr 4-2 to win the 2013 UAE Beach Soccer League last Saturday, 9th of March.
Two goals by Portuguese duo Madjer-Belchior got the Dubai settled side walk past their opponents to reedit last season?s glory in front of a packed stadium at Al Mamzar beach.
It was Al Nasr who was more active early in the match and this paid dividend when a direct shot from goalkeeper Humaid Jamal was nicked in by Lebanese striker Haitham Fattal.
But Al Ahli did not give up. Knowing well that they had to play a game of patience the defending champions continued putting the Al Nasr goal under siege. It was on the hooter signaling the end of the second period that Madjer managed to draw both teams level when he brilliantly firedan overhead kick home to pull the 1-1.
In the third and final period, Belchior took over, as he received a gentle pass by compatriot Madjer, squeezed pass his marker and slammed in to give Al Ahli the lead for the first time in the match.
After Rami Mosabi made it 3-1, Haitham Fattal scored from a direct free kick with four minutes remaining, but once again, there came Madjer to the rescue before to settle things comfortable for his side with the 4-2.
Earlier, Al Wasl finished the competition as the third best team, edging Ajman Club in the penalty kick shootout. After being tied 5-5 at the end of the third and final period and 6-6 at the end of the extra three minutes of play, Al Wasl proved better aimed from the spot, denying two of the attempts from their opponents to claim the bronze.
The 2013 UAE Beach Soccer League was organized by the Dubai Sports Council under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council. The trophies were presented by Ahmed Khalifa Hamad, CEO of Al Ahli; Arif Abbas, CEO of Al Nasr along with Ali Omar and Nasser Al Rahma from the Dubai Sports Council.
