Group A
Italy win 2-1 against Spain
The opening period ended goalless, with both sides creating chances but failing to find the breakthrough.
Spain finally broke the deadlock in the second period, with Carol Glez finding the net three minutes before the second break to give her side a 1–0 lead.
Italy mounted a late comeback in the third period, with Adami and Vecchione both turning the game around and securing a 2–1 victory.
Group B
Portugal win 4-3 against Ukraine
Portugal made a strong start, racing into a 2–0 lead in the opening period through Ferreira and Constança. Klipachnako pulled one back for Ukraine midway through the period, but Ines Cruz restored Portugal’s two-goal advantage before Kostiuk struck in the final second to make it 3–2 at the break.
Ukraine continued to push in the second period and were rewarded late on when Saldatenko levelled the game at 3–3 with a brilliant strike.
Portugal found the decisive goal in the final period, with Christiana scoring with just three minutes remaining to give her side a narrow 4–3 victory.
