Portugal crowned champions of the U20 Euro Beach Soccer Cup

Spain finish runners-up as Italy secure third place


The final day of the inaugural U20 Euro Beach Soccer Cup 2026 in Viareggio delivered decisive action across all placement matches, as Portugal dominated Spain in the Iberian Derby to lift the historic first title. Earlier, Italy secured third place with a commanding win over Czechia, while Belgium edged England after extra time to claim fifth, bringing a memorable first edition to a thrilling conclusion.

Belgium win 6–4 against England after extra-time decider in two-leg playoff
A tense opening period in the second leg of the 5th/6th place playoff saw both sides unable to find the breakthrough, heading into the first break goalless despite strong attacking efforts.

Belgium took control late in the second period, with goals from Bette and Boon giving them a 2–0 lead, shifting momentum in their favour heading into the final period.

England responded in the third period to level the contest and force extra time, where the drama continued. England struck first in the added period, but Belgium replied with two goals to edge the game 6–4 after extra time, securing fifth place after a thrilling encounter.

Italy win 8-2 against Czechia
Italy made a blistering start in the third-place playoff, with Reggio opening the scoring early before Santini doubled the lead with a fine strike. Sannibale added a third, while Santini struck again and Sirianni also found the net to give Italy a commanding 5–0 advantage at the end of the opening period.

Czechia responded in the second period through Šilhavý, but Italy maintained control with further goals from Reggio and Meli. Šilhavý grabbed his second of the game, though Czechia still trailed 7–2 heading into the final period.

Italy sealed the result in the third period, benefiting from a Czechia own goal midway through to complete an 8–2 victory and secure third place.

Portugal win 9-3 against Spain
Portugal made a flying start in the final, racing into a three-goal lead in the opening period through a brace from goalkeeper Cristiano and a strike from G. Loureiro to take full control at 3–0.

They extended their dominance in the second period as Milheiro and M. Martins added two more before Spain responded through Cebolla. Further goals from Mendes and Lourenço stretched Portugal’s lead to 7–1, with Ramy pulling one back for Spain to make it 7–2 heading into the final period.

In the third period, Ramy scored again for Spain, but Portugal remained in command as Loureiro and Pola added two more goals to seal a convincing 9–3 victory and secure the championship title.

Individual Awards
During the awards ceremony in Viareggio, three individual awards were presented to the top performers. The ‘Best goalkeeper’ award was given to Cristiano Almeida (Portugal), while the ‘MVP’ award was won by Bruno Albuquerque “Pola” (Portugal). The ‘Top scorer’ award was claimed by Gonçalo Loureiro (Portugal) with 11 goals.
