Victories for Uruguay, Chile, Venezuela and Brazil win on the opening day
Group A
The first match from Group A saw Uruguay secure an opening day win against Ecuador, claiming two points from the match in a 3-2 extra-time victory. Goals for the Uruguayans came courtesy of Enzo Gaston Ortiz Rondan, Brandon Mariano Maverino Cal and Andres Laens Bizera.
Group A action continued, with Chile putting themselves at the top of the group at the end of Matchday 1 with a 3-1 win over Bolivia. Bolivia broke the deadlock in the fixture through Juan Hurtudo, before Diego San Martin secured a brace in the fixture for the Chileans as Andrés Albuerno netted the other for the victory.
Group B
Venezuela and Paraguay put on a show to open Group B as the Venezuelans took all three points with a 7-5 victory. Venezuela had seven different goal scorers in the fixture, with Fausto Escobar their first of the match and Alexander Vaamonde the seventh.
Brazil netted nine in their first match of the competition in an impressive 9-4 victory over Peru. Mauricinho, Brendo, and Edson Hulk all claimed braces in the encounter to help the Brazilian side start their Copa América campaign on a high.
