Final
The final match of the Americas Winners Cup El Salvador 2024 saw Santa Cruz and CR Flamengo battle it out to become champions of this year’s competition.
It was a perfect opening period for the Brazilian team, firing home five goals past their opponents, with five different scorers. Pedrinho found the first, with Antônio, Dmais, Igor and Paulinho getting their names on the scoresheet.
Lucão scored Santa Cruz’s first goal of the match in the second phase of play in a magnificent manner, slamming the ball off the left post and into the bottom right corner. However, with less than three minutes to play in the period, Dmais restored Flamengo’s five-goal advantage with his second of the match.
CR Flamengo extended their lead even further in the third and final period, as Antônio and Igor completed their braces and Rodrigo scored his 11th goal of the tournament. The final goal of the match went the way of Santa Cruz, as Lucão hit the back of the net once again to claim the prize of ‘top scorer’ in the men’s competition.
A much improved finish for the Brazilian team in the Americas Winners Cup, securing their first title after a sixth place finish in the inaugural edition of the competition in 2023.
3rd/4th place
Barra de Santiago secured the bronze medal in the Americas Winners Cup, winning 12-7 against La Pirraya. Castro and Ramirez both netted hat-tricks in the fixture to help their side achieve victory.
