The group stage pairings have been officially announced
The draw for the 2023 European Games beach soccer tournament is complete, where 14 top ranked nations, including eight men’s and six women’s teams, will each battle it out for the chance to capture silverware, in Tarnow, Poland this summer.
The women’s draw got the proceedings started, where for the first time in European Games history, a women’s beach soccer tournament is set to take place. In Group A, host nation Poland will take on the 2022 Euro Beach Soccer League bronze medalists, Portugal, and number seven ranked nation, Czechia. Defending EBSL champions, Spain topped Group B as they face familiar foes, Italy, and Ukraine.
In the third edition of the men’s draw, Poland welcome the 2019 European Games winners, Portugal, the 2019 silver medalists, Spain and the 2015 European Games hosts, Azerbaijan into Group A. Group B will consist of EBSL Super Final champions, Switzerland, two-time EBSL champions, Italy, 2016 EBSL champions, Ukraine and Moldova, EBSL – Division B champions, take the final spot.
For both men’s and women’s competitions, the top two sides of each group will qualify for the semi-finals, with each of the semi-final winners booking their place in the final. There will be a Bronze medal match for the two nations who fail to make it past the semi-final stage, to decide who finishes third in the competition.
