In an historic victory the Espirito Santo club defeated Corinthians in the final on Sunday
Brazil has a new beach soccer champion – Anchieta!
The Espirito Santo club won their first-ever title in a decisive win over Corinthians in Sunday’s final.
Even with the likes of Bruno Xavier, Filipe and Rafa Padilha in the ranks, Anchieta still offered a surprise in winning the 2021 Brasileirão, making it the first Brazilian league title in their history.
In the final it was three goal from Raphael Silva that helped wrap up the trophy. Filipe scored two more, while Bruno Xavier and Eudin netted one each to take the final tally to seven.
The latest talent to burst into the Brazilian national side is Edson Hulk, who won the Top Scorer award at the World Cup qualifier and lead the scoring charts for much of the Euro Winners Cup with Israeli club BSC Rosh Haayin. He impressed throughout this Brazilian league campaign, scoring in the final and also sealing the Top Scorer trophy with seven goals.
Doidinha pulled back a second for Corinthians, but it wasn’t enough to turn the match around and a monumental league title was won by a deserving and star-studded Anchieta, who also claimed the Best Player in Filipe and Best Goalkeeper in Rafa Padilha.
ABC, who had defeated the would-be champions in the final group games just days previously, downed former champions Sampaio Corrêa in the playoff for third to finish in the top three of the 2021 Brazilian beach soccer championship.
