MVP Dino helps Ma’aon Ammer’s side on the road to further success.
There was more success for Falfala Kfar Qassem in the Israeli championship this weekend as the 2015 champions defended their title to pick up a fourth trophy.
Held at the Shawrtz Home Arena on Poleg Beach in Netanya, Ma’aon Ammer’s saw off Maccabi Netanya 5-3 to set up a final meeting against Rosh Ha’ayen, who had beat Benyi-Yehuda 4-2 in their semi-final clash.
Spanish player Chiky was the first to score for Rosh Ha’ayen only for Brazilian De Silva to equalise for Qasem before Vitaly Ganon restored Rosh Ha’ayen’s lead before the end of the first period.
Brazilian Dino – later named as the competition’s MVP – was on target to level matters at 2-2 in the second period, setting up a tense finale for a bumper crowd on Poleg Beach.
De Silva of Qasem scored Quasem’s third but, just before the final whistle, an impressive free-kick from Wasim Agbaria took the final into extra time for the first time since the Bank Yahav League was established 10 years ago.
Ultimately, Dino showed his quality to score directly from a corner and settle the tie, as Qassem were left to celebrate with more then 2,000 of their fans as they were named champions for the fourth time in the last five years.
At the end of the game, former Israel coach and current Maccabi Netanya boss Benny Lam announced he was calling time on his career in beach soccer.
