The Huawei Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup travels to a new venue in one of the most iconic beaches in Dubai
The 3,500-seater, state-of-the-art stadium at Kite Beach is ready to host the upcoming Huawei Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup Dubai, kicking off this coming Tuesday, 6th of November, in Kite Beach.
The competition has travelled this year to one of the most well-known beaches in Dubai, with the magnificent Burj Al Arab as the perfect background for such a flashing event.
HE Saeed Hareb, General Secretary of the Dubai Sports Council is fully convinced that the new venue will mean a great step forward: “We have great expectations with the new venue. It is in an iconic beach in the city, with one of the most beautiful backgrounds, and we are sure that the fans will love it. It will become the perfect stage for such a top-class competition”.
Similarly, Executive Vice-President of Beach Soccer Worldwide, Joan Cusco, feels satisfied with the new place beach soccer has found in Dubai, one of the heartlands of the sport: “We are really happy with the new place of the venue. Actually, it is a place we know very well, because it is really close to where we hosted the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2009. For us, going to the beach is something that makes full sense, something we always like, and Kite Beach is a great place for any sports event”, he said.
The amusement options will not limit to the inside of the arena, as the stadium will be surrounded by a vivid Fan Zone, where everybody will find different activities that will make for a unique experience. “The facilities will be, once again, world-class, and every beach soccer fan will love their time here right as they cross the premises gates”, Cusco added.
Paul Berger, CEO – Arena Middle East and Asia, the company in charge of building the stadium, celebrated the long-term relationship both with the Dubai Sports Council and beach soccer: “We have been working with Dubai Sports Council and BSWW to produce the Beach Soccer events since 2013, and we are thrilled to have continued this relationship as the event moves to its new Kite Beach home for the 2018 edition. We have transformed the Huawei Intercontinental Cup venue with top-notch facilities and, with the iconic backdrop of the Burj al Arab, we feel that this year is going to be truly special. We are proud to have been a part of it.”
The last touches were given over the last days, and the facility is now ready for both the official trainings and to receive thousands of fans in the competition. Indeed, some friendlies have also been played in the stadium over the weekend, so everything is ready for a great spectacle once again!
