Senegal to host the CAF Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations

CAF appointed Dakar as the venue for the continental beach soccer competition, which will decide Africa’s World Cup representatives

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), after an executive meeting on September 10th, appointed Dakar (Senegal) as the hosts of the African Beach Soccer Cup of Nations finals. The dates are still to be confirmed, and the participating sides will be known soon.

The finalists of the continental competition will also represent Africa at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021.

Senegal are undisputedly the most decorated team in the continent, having become the winners of the AFCON tournament on 5 occasions. In the last edition, held in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) in December 2018, the Senegalese side reclaimed the throne after defeating Nigeria 6-1 in the final.

Together with the Lions of Teranga, Nigeria, Madagascar and Cote d’Ivoire are the only countries on the African continent to have qualified to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in the past.
