The popular event will be staged again on the idyllic island in Cape Verde.
The Sal Beach Soccer Cup will once again feature on the sport’s global calendar in 2017 after a successful maiden edition last year.
In April 2016, the Praia de Santa Maria on the Ilha de Sal in Cape Verde hosted a top-level beach soccer tournament for the first time and this year the event returns in May, with the hosts taking on world champions Portugal as well as England and Germany.
Near-neighbours Portugal will once again offer the sternest examination of Cape Verde’s credentials, fresh from their FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup title defence in the Bahamas, while England and Germany – both inside the world’s top 35 – will also compete between May 19th and 21st.
Last year saw Portugal claim the inaugural title thanks to two normal-time wins and a further success in added time, with Spain and England finishing second and third respectively.
Cape Verde, while showing promise in front of their home fans last time out, will hope to improve on their fourth-place finish and pick up their first points in this year’s event.
