The Iran goalkeeper was cheered by thousands of people on returning to his home town, Noshahr
Iran goalkeeper Peyman Hosseini was homaged when he returned to home town Noshahr, in the Mazandaran region, following a stellar display at the Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup.
Hosseini – named Best Goalkeeper at the recent event in Dubai following a string of top-drawer displays – was escorted in an official car from the airport and given a rapturous welcome as hordes of neighbours, friends and beach soccer fans lined the streets.
The Iranian people admire Hosseini fondly and have made that clear regularly at events over the last few years, with the beach soccer star offering his thanks in return via an Instagram post. (https://www.instagram.com/p/BMv7uTdAYv8/?taken-by=peymanhosseinii)
Safe to say that admiration grew during the last Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Dubai, with a strong Iranian support watching on as the goalkeeper played through the pain of a groin injury to help Iran finish second.
Despite the injury, Hosseini produced some wonderful stops – notably in a thrilling semi-final win against Tahiti – and although Iran came up short against Brazil in the final, his status within the game continues to grow.
