Women’s World Winners Cup Sicily 2025 – Day 1 Round-up

Day 1 of the Women’s World Winners Cup in Sicily delivered brilliant play and dramatic finishes, with Higicontrol Melilla, BSZ Ladies, and Säo Pedro BS impressing, while Lazo Apego edged BSVB Elite in a thrilling extra-time battle.

Group A
Säo Pedro BS win 4-0 against Cruzn 
The opening period saw both sides create chances but fail to find the target, with the deadlock holding firm until the first break.

Säo Pedro BS finally broke through just a minute into the second period, thanks to Manau, before Luana doubled their advantage with a late strike, sending them into the final period 2–0 up.

Taii extended the lead shortly after the restart, and Sil’s last-minute finish sealed a commanding 4–0 victory for Säo Pedro BS.

Group B
Higicontrol Melilla win 7-0 against Peñarol
Higicontrol Melilla made a blistering start to their Group B clash against Peñarol, racing to a 4–0 lead in the first period. Goals from Carol, Vecchione, and Bychkova’s brace put the Spanish side firmly in control early on.

The second period saw Higicontrol maintain their dominance, with Andrea adding another goal to extend the lead. Peñarol struggled to find their rhythm, unable to threaten the Melilla defence throughout the period.

In the final period, Campoey struck to give Higicontrol their seventh goal, while Bychkova completed her brace, securing an emphatic 7–0 victory.

Group C
Lazo Apego win 7-6 against BSVB Elite in extra time
The game started with Nozomi giving Lazo Apego an early lead, but Hunter’s brace quickly turned the tide for BSVB Elite at 2–1. An own goal stretched their advantage to 3–1, before Nozomi struck again and Ferrazza levelled the scores 3–3.

Lazo Apego regained control with goals from Saki and Isshy to lead 5–3, though Quintero pulled one back for BSVB Elite before the break.

Sabrina’s strike early in the third period made it 5–5, and while Ferrazza restored Lazo Apego’s lead, Ashley’s late goal forced extra time. Nozomi stepped up once again in the added period, sealing a dramatic 7–6 win and two points for Lazo Apego.

Group D
BSZ Ladies win 5-2 against Tokyo Verdy BS
Tokyo Verdy BS started strongly, taking the lead just a minute into the game through Tomoka. However, BSZ Ladies quickly responded, with Küffer and Jona scoring to turn the game around and finish the first period 2–1 in their favour.

The second period saw BSZ Ladies extend their advantage. Joana netted a third goal with a minute remaining in the period, leaving Tokyo Verdy struggling to break through a solid defence as the score stood at 3–1.

In the final period, Jona and Küffer strike again, adding two more goals to cement the 5–2 victory. Tokyo Verdy managed a late strike from Taizawa, but it was too little too late as BSZ Ladies secured a convincing win.
