Euro Beach Soccer League 2025 is underway in Castellammare di Stabia

Thrilling victories and dramatic finishes across Divisions A, B, and Women


Action kicked off on opening day of the Euro Beach Soccer League 2025 in Castellammare di Stabia, as teams battled fiercely to secure crucial early points.

Division A
Group A

Czechia win 3-2 against Estonia.
In the opening Group A match, Czechia secured a narrow win over Estonia. The first period proved decisive, as Czechia’s Tram opened the scoring and quickly followed with a brace. Kortve’s late goal in the period gave Czechia a commanding 3-0 lead.

Estonia responded early in the second period through Lilleo, narrowing the deficit to 3-1. Despite pushing forward, they couldn’t convert more goals in the period.

Estonia’s Lilleo struck again in the final period to close the gap, but Czechia held firm defensively to deny Estonia an equaliser to secure a 3-2 win.

Italy win 5-1 against Denmark.
Host nation Italy delivered a dominant performance in their opening campaign, securing a 5-1 victory over Denmark in front of the home crowd. Goalkeeper Casapieri opened the scoring just three minutes into the game, followed by goals from Giordani and Sciacca to give Italy a commanding 3-0 lead in the first period.

In the second period, Frandsen pulled one back for Denmark just four minutes after the restart. However, Sciacca’s second goal of the match restored Italy’s three-goal cushion, making it 4-1.

In the final period, Sassari added a fifth to seal a convincing 5-1 win for Italy.

Group B
Switzerland win 5-2 against Moldova
Switzerland kicked off their Group B campaign in dominant fashion with a 5-2 win over Moldova. The Swiss side came out firing, scoring four unanswered goals in the first period through Borer, J. Knöpfli, and a brace from Hodel to take a commanding 4-0 lead.

Moldova responded in the second period, with Sîrghi pulling one back midway through. However, Switzerland maintained control and closed the period with a solid 4-1 advantage.

In the final period, Steine added a fifth for Switzerland, while Cojoc managed a late consolation for Moldova. The Swiss side held firm to secure a convincing 5-2 victory.

Division B
Malta win 3-2 against Norway.
Malta earned their first-ever win in Euro Beach Soccer League history with a narrow 3-2 triumph over Norway in the opening match of Division B. The match kicked off with the first period ending goalless, as neither side was able to find the net.

The breakthrough came in the second period, as Malta struck twice through Micallef and Schembri to take a 2-0 lead. Norway remained without a goal heading into the final period, needing a strong response to turn the match around.

Just three minutes into the third period, Micallef doubled his tally to extend Malta’s lead to 3-0. Norway responded with goals from Skotty and Haga to close the gap, but it proved too little, too late. Malta held on to seal the 3-2 win.

Kazakhstan win 3-2 against Romania, in extra time
Kazakhstan edge Romania in an extra-time thriller in the second Division B clash of the day. A tight first period ended goalless, with both teams unable to break the deadlock despite persistent attacking play.

In the second period, Toma put Romania ahead, but Dering quickly responded to level for Kazakhstan. Maci restored Romania’s lead shortly before the end of the period, sending them into the final third with a 2-1 advantage.

Malikov brought Kazakhstan level midway through the third period, forcing the match into extra time, where Kaizer struck the decisive blow, scoring his second of the match to seal a dramatic 3-2 victory for Kazakhstan.

Women
Portugal win 8-3 against Switzerland.
Portugal opened their campaign with a commanding 8-3 win over Switzerland. The first period ended 1-1 after early goals from Crista for Portugal and an immediate reply from Flury for Switzerland.

Portugal took control in the second period, netting five goals through Ferreira, Joana, Carolina, and a brace from Mélissa. Switzerland managed a single response via Schärer, leaving the score at 6-2 heading into the final period.

Inês added her name to the scoresheet just a minute into the third period, and Carolina’s late strike sealed a dominant 8-3 victory for the Portuguese side.

Italy win 3-2 against Netherlands.
The second Group A encounter between the Netherlands and Italy opened with a high-energy first period that saw both sides trade goals. The Dutch side struck first, with Lize and Mariël finding the net early to give the Netherlands a 2-0 lead. Italy responded, as Vecchione and Galloni each converted chances to bring Italy level at 2-2.

The second period was marked by determined efforts from both teams, who pushed forward with intent but ultimately couldn’t find a breakthrough.

In the final period, it took just two minutes after the restart for the deadlock to be broken. Italy’s Galluccio delivered a composed finish to put her team ahead for the first time in the match, to seal a hard-fought 3-2 victory in front of their home fans.
