The official draw took place
Ahead of the 2024 edition of the Americas Winners Cup, set to be held in the Flor Blanc Beach Soccer Stadium, San Salvador, El Salvador, in November, the 22 participating clubs from seven countries, consisting of men’s and women’s teams, found out their groups for this year’s competition in the official draw.
Draw action started with the Women’s Americas Winners Cup 2024 draw, as the 10 participating teams were divided into two groups of five teams. Host nation club and highest ranked Salvadoran club in the women’s competition Barra de Santiago were placed in position A1 in the draw, as defending champions São Pedro BS were considered in position B1.
San Marcelino FC, Central Cordoba, Las Costeñas and Cruzn joined Barra de Santiago in Group A, as UES, Cali BSC, Costa de Sol and Botafogo took the remaining spots in Group B, alongside São Pedro BS.
The men’s competition will see 12 clubs take to the Salvadoran sands in search of glory, as the participating teams were split into three groups of four teams, named Group A, B and C.
As the highest-ranked team in the men’s competition according to the BSWW Overall Clubs Ranking, Barra de Santiago were placed in A1 in the draw as Salvadoran side La Pirraya were placed in B1 as the second highest ranked team in the competition according to the BSWW Overall Club Ranking. Finally, Brazilian team CR Flamengo were the number three seed in the draw as the next highest ranked club, and took position C1 in the draw.
Group A saw Cruzn, USAC FP and Isla San Sebastian join Barra de Santiago, La Pirraya will face FP Riviera Maya, Yunis Limon and Apulo Ilopango, and Pioneros FP, Puntarenas FC Futbol Playa and SoCal BSC will play in Group C with CR Flamengo.
Great beach soccer action awaits in El Salvador as the best men’s and women’s clubs of the Americas will be defined.
