England defeat the champions
England beat USA 7-6 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in the match.
The first match of the Women’s El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup saw defending champions USA take on the number two ranked nation in the BSWW Ranking, England.
It was England who took the lead in the encounter as Marshall hit the back of the net with just over six minutes played in the match, but USA struck twice before the opening period came to a close through Witteman and Valentine.
Marshall secured her brace in the second period to bring her nation level with a volley, as scores were level at 2-2 with one period to play.
In the third period both teams failed to hit the target, meaning extra-time was next. Sunseri-Warp put the USA ahead with just 47 seconds to play, but Marshall completed her hat-trick for England to take the match to penalties.
It was the Lionesses who came away with the victory, winning 7-6 in the shootout to capture an opening day victory.
Dream start for El Salvador
El Salvador win 8-0 against Bahamas.
Host nation, El Salvador took to the Costa del Sol Stadium pitch as they faced Bahamas.
El Salvador took lead after just three minutes with a strike from Turcios, which proved to be the only goal of period. The hosts increased their advantage to four by the end of the second period, as goals from Perez, Varela and Segovia made the score 4-0.
The Salvadorans continued their relentless goal scoring in the third period as Perez, Rivera, and Turcios all completed their braces to triumph 8-0 and sit in top spot after day one.
