The team from Terracina won the Double after having won the Coppa Italia earlier this season
For the first time in their history Futsal Basic Academy have won the Italian league.
After beating Pisa and Canalicchio Catania in the group stage, Futsal Basic Academy stepped on the sand of the “Matteo Valenti” Beach Stadium in Viareggio to face Pavia C5, who finished ahead of Lady International, Alsa Lab Napoli and Genova in their group.
The final was a close-fought encounter and the deadlock was only broken seven minutes into the third period through Veronica Privitera who put Futsal Basic Academy leading before a shot from Federica Marino was deflected into her own net by Lauria sending the match to extra-time.
The hero of the final would be Melania Pisa who decided the match in the last minute of extra time in what was a memorable day for her as she also won the MVP award.
Dream season for Futsal Basic Academy who had already won the Italian cup earlier this campaign.
In the third-place play-off, four-times champions Lady International led by top-scorer Sarah Kempson beat Pisa eight goals to four to claim their place on the podium.
