BSWW and the Dubai Sports Council sign contract extension to secure the event on Emirati soil until 2020
The Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup, arguably the premier annual beach soccer competition of the calendar, will remain in Dubai for at least the coming three years, following the signing of an agreement by HE Saeed Hareb, General Secretary of the Dubai Sports Council, and Joan Cuscó, BSWW Executive Vice-president.
“The Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup was born here in Dubai and today we at Dubai Sports Council are really pleased to extend our partnership with Beach Soccer Worldwide and keep this tournament here until 2020,” Saeed Hareb highlighted.
“We have enjoyed a really great partnership with Beach Soccer Worldwide and together, with the support of our strategic partners, we have managed to turn this tournament into the most prestigious annual event in the sport, second only to the World Cup in value, with eight of the world’s best teams competing.
“The tournament has grown year-on-year, becoming one of the most anticipated and loved events on Dubai’s sporting calendar. We at Dubai Sports Council are really pleased with that and confident our partnership with Beach Soccer Worldwide will see even brighter days in the years ahead.”
In turn, Joan Cusco, BSWW Executive Vice-president pointed out: “We feel very honoured to sign this extension with the Dubai Sports Council, which is the demonstration of the common will to keep having the Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup here in Dubai for many years.
“We have signed a three-year extension, but it is in our minds to bring our relationship way longer, because, as I always say: Dubai loves beach soccer and beach soccer loves Dubai. This has always been a place we call home.
“I want to reiterate our gratitude to the Dubai Sports Council, HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and HE Saeed Hareb for their continued trust, support and their affectionate approach, and, also for making this wonderful event happen year after year.”
