Uruguay Football Association holds five-day coaching seminar

Spain coach Joaquin Alonso offers his beach soccer expertise in Montevideo.

A five-day beach soccer coaching course got underway at the Uruguay Football Association’s (UAF) Montevideo headquarters on Monday, with Spain coach Joaquin Alonso a key speaker.

The event runs until Friday and will factor in both lectures and practical classes on the beach, with Spain boss Alonso offering some of the expertise he has amassed in charge of La Roja since taking over in 2002.

The AUF’s Beach Soccer President Kevork Kouyoumdjian and Technical Development Director Daniel Enriquez were also present as coaches in the region were afforded the opportunity to learn from one of the game’s best coaches.

Students will be taught based around the topics of history and regulation, technical analysis, tactical evolution, goalkeeper training, physical coaching, training sessions and the role of computer technology within sessions.

By the time the course comes to an end on Friday, students are expected to be able to analyse and interpret the game, know the different game systems, be aware of technical, tactical and player skills as well being able to prepare and train a team for a competition.

Furthermore, budding coaches should be confident in preparing training plans, creating optimal learning environments, understanding and applying different methods of evaluation and also be fully versed in the rules and spirit of the game.
