USA secure silverware in Siófok

A 3-5 win over hosts Hungary give Farberoff’s the first position, with still one game to play

The United States National Team keep marching firmly at the Balaton Beach Soccer Cup. A new win, this time over hosts Hungary, keep the Stars and Stripes on top of the table, and no other team in the competition have the chance to catch them, still with one game to play.

Things were really tight during the first stages of the game, with Fekete equalizing Leopoldo’s opener, but USA took care of business in the second period, getting 4-1 ahead.

Silveria widened the gap even more, right as the third leg began and, although Besenyei tried to lead the Magyar reaction in the latter part of the game, pulling two goals back for the hosts, the distance was already too wide for Ughy’s side.

In the first game of the day, Japan forgot about yesterday’s sorrows with a big win over Czech Republic. Despite the game had a slow start, Matsuo’s opener lit the way for the Samurai Blue midway half the second period. A 4-0 run in the last leg had things clearly sealed for Japan, who will now take on Hungary trying to secure, at least the second place in the competition.
