Swiss domination in Giverola friendlies

Switzerland, Germany and Estonia head to Spain for some intense training ahead of the Euro Beach Soccer League 2018

As the Euro Beach Soccer League looms, Europe’s national teams are intensifying their training programmes to be at their best this summer.

Last week the Swiss, German and Estonian teams came together in Giverola, northern Spain, to step up their training game ahead of the Euro Beach Soccer League 2018.

The teams organised various friendly matches amongst themselves and carried out some fierce training drills.

Germany took on Estonia in the first of the four friendly matches. The bout ended in a 7-2 victory for Germany after a plucky resistance from Estonia, who’s consolation goals both came from Marko Truusalu.

The next day Estonia had the opportunity to seek revenge as the two teams faced each other once more. They started strongly keeping the scored tied for the first period. However, the Germans found another gear towards the end of the game and the final score was 8-3 in Germany’s favour.

It was the turn of the Swiss to take on Germany in game number three. Perhaps worn out from the two previous matches and some tough training, the Germans were overwhelmed and Switzerland claimed a decisive 1-7 victory.

The final friendly match of the training camp was between Switzerland and Estonia. It seems that Estonia had given it everything they had against Germany the previous two days, as they handed Switzerland a 9-0 win.

It was a very concentrated few days of beach soccer activity and a steep learning curve for many. One thing that became clear this week was that we will have some fast-paced and incredibly entertaining games on our hands with these teams in the Euro Beach Soccer League this year.
