Spain, Russia top groups in Moscow!

La Roja remains perfect to earn all points at stake, while Russia need penalty kick shootout over Switzerland in amazing showdown

Spain edge Italy and secure top of group and Superfinal berth

The Spanish National side upset Italy in the last matchday of the Euro Beach Soccer League Moscow to grasp head of group. Alonso’s side stayed perfect in this opening stage of the continental league and will fly back home to play in front of their own crowd in Sanxenxo acknowledging that their place in the Superfinal is virtually secured.

Spain showcased a great beach soccer experience in managing the game from beginning to end. Ezequiel swept the Spaniards ahead midway half first period, and La Roja contended Italy for more than one period.

The stroke exchange in the middle frame brought the game to the 2-2, and just when it seemed that the equalizer would remain until the third period, a brilliant set-pieces move by Spain had Pajón nodding the ball home for the 3-2.

La Roja kept fighting in the third period, with their defensive sline and Dona denying all the chances the Azzurri tried to attempt. Raul Merida, in turn, took advantage of the miscommunication between Di Palma and Spada to widen the gap, securing the win for Spain.

With nine points out of nine, Spain heads now to the Euro Beach Soccer League stage they will be hosting in Sanxenxo with the tranquility of knowing that most of their

Russia grasp top of group after beach soccer showdown against Switzerland

Russia and Switzerland brought on a terrific beach soccer showdown to close this excellent Euro Beach Soccer League Moscow. A fourteen-goal thriller, with extra time and penalty shootout, and stunning beach soccer is just a perfect way to put an end to this opening Euro Beach Soccer League stage.

Despite Russia seemed to command the game rather comfortably, an amazing reaction by Switzerland, coming from 4-0 behind turned the game into a breath-taking beach soccer combat in which one name prevailed over the rest: Dejan Stankovic.

The Swiss bomber took the responsibility in his team, pulling the first back for Switzerland when everything seemed impossible, and scoring up to five goals to have the Alpine giving the hosts a pretty serious unrest and combatting until the end.

After such a terrific battle, the penalty kick shootout seemed the only way to appoint the winner in group 1. Both teams stayed perfect during the regular three shots, but in the sudden-death fourth, Wittlin could not balance things after Romanov’s fired his attempt home. The Swiss ball hit the crossbar and went wide, sending the last point at stake to Russian hands.

Belarus earns first points in Euro Beach Soccer League

Belarus could finally collect their first points in the European season after a loud consistent win over Greece. The Marco-Octavio coached side had been denied twice in the competition so far, but gave their opponents little chance this time.

Greece tried to fight Belarus one on one, but their contest lasted for just one period, as Papastothopoulos equalizer was the furthest the Hellenic side would get.

Slautsin gave Belarus the control of the game back with the 2-1 before first frame was over, and Samsonov added to that with the 3-1 almost over the second period hooter.

A 3-0 run in the last frame defined the game, and confirmed the points at stake were flying to Belarusian hands, what allows them to keep fighting for Superfinal berth.

Instead, and despite it is only the first stage of the Euro Beach Soccer League, Greece know that they will have to gear up if they want to skip fighting against relegation in the Promotion Final.

Goals: 1-0: Kamzolau, min. 4 (1); 1-1: Papastothopoulos, min. 4 (1); 2-1: Slautsin, min. 3 (1); 3-1: Samsonov, min. 0 (2); 4-1: Bryshtel, min. 9 (3); 5-1: Samsonov, min. 6 (3); 6-1: Kanstantinau, min. 5 (3)

Poland hammers France to earn first win in Moscow

Poland ran past France in this closing matchday of the Euro Beach Soccer League Moscow 2016 to capture their first points in the competition.

The Poles never gave Les Bleus any real chance to fight for the game, even getting ahead in the score in the very first action of the match. Poland’s timely attacks were too much for the French resistance, and the distance began growing unstoppably.

When France managed to pulled one back, the score was already 0-6 for Poland, and there was not much Stephane François’ lads could do at that point.

With this loud win, Poland spur their hopes of getting amongst the best eight of the Division A pool, what would give them the right to fly to the Superfinal in Catania to compete for the European crown.

France will need to react in the upcoming Euro Beach Soccer League stage, this coming weekend in Sanxenxo (Spain) if they want to skip the Promotion Final.

Goals: 0-1: Krawczyk, min. 11 (1); 0-2: Baran, min. 8 (1); 0-3: Baran, min. 9 (2); 0-4: Jesionowski, min. 6 (2); 0-5: Lenart, min. 5 (2); 0-6: Krawczyk, min. 2 (2); 1-6: Basquaise, min. 2 (3); 1-7: Lenart, min. 6 (3); 1-8: Krawczyk, min. 6 (3); 2-8: Beaugrard, min. 2 (3);
