Power Horse Euro Beach Soccer League Torredembarra 2012 officially launched today in press conference
The Spanish National Coach, Joaquín Alonso is thrilled in having the Euro Beach Soccer League landing again on known soil, as he set clear this morning in the official opening press conference of the Power Horse Euro Beach Soccer League. He was accompanied by the Mayor of Torredembarra, Daniel Masagué, the president of the Tourism Council, Ignasi Duran, and Gabino Renales, Beach Soccer Worldwide General Manager.
After being given floor, Alonso highlighted that “Torredembarra is a privileged place for Beach Soccer, and people here really know what they have. It is a great thing to be here again, as you can feel Beach Soccer is a highly regarded sport. You can always see kids and youngsters playing beach soccer, and showing a great passion for the sport. We will need this passion backing us, as we have a really tough duty to accomplish if we want to be in the Superfinal next week.” Recalling their previous experience one month ago, when Spain came down to the seaside resort for a training camp prior to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow, the former Spanish international pointed that “we have the best feelings. Hopefully Torredembarra gives us as much luck as it did before flying to Moscow”.
The city Mayor, Daniel Masagué had opened the press conference explaining the importance it had for Torredembarra to host such a high-level tournament as one stage of the European League, and that they were glad to have the Spanish National Team back on their beach again, as well as he thanked Beach Soccer Worldwide “for the confidence placed on us”. Similarly, the head of Tourism in the city council, Ignasi Duran, explained that for Torredembarra “it is a great opportunity to jump onto a global stage, with so many countries watching what is going on in our town. We hope this means the first chapter of many more to come”.
In turn, Gabino Renales, as maximum representative of Beach Soccer Worldwide thanked back to the Torredembarra council, for “having made things so easy. They have been amazingly available, and they have been the ultimate responsible of having the Euro Beach Soccer League coming to the Spanish Mediterranean shore again”, he said. Dealing with the visibility and international reach of the event, Renales pointed out that “With close to 150 countries watching the matches on TV, the promotion for the city is more than assured”.
