Nazaré to host the Euro Winners Cup 2017!
The Portuguese seaside resort will host this year’s edition of the biggest beach soccer clubs international event, after the agreement was signed today
Beach Soccer Worldwide is delighted to confirm the initial details for the Euro Winners Cup 2017, which will be held in the coastal Portuguese resort of Nazaré between May 29th and June 4th, after the agreement signed today by Nazaré Mayor, Walter Chicharro, BSWW Executive Vice-president, Joan Cuscó, and BSWW Deputy Vice-president, Gabino Renales, at BSWW’s headquarters in Barcelona.
After three successful years in Catania, where the competition saw its maiden edition, the biggest beach soccer international clubs event travels to the coast of Portugal.
The annual competition sees the best teams, both male and female, from across Europe do battle to be crowned continental champions, with this year’s event including preliminary rounds for some additional berths in the main competition, making it the biggest Euro Winners Cup to date.
This preliminary round will offer other teams who did not qualify via their national league to get one of the up to four available spots and participate in the competition proper. (The structure, format and regulations of this preliminary stage will be communicated to the teams during the coming week)
Heading to beautiful Praia da Nazaré on the stunning Central Region of Portugal, the Euro Winners Cup 2017 will once again be the pinnacle of European club beach soccer and Nazaré Mayor Walter Chicharro is eagerly anticipating the event.
“The possibility to host the biggest international beach soccer clubs event is a great satisfaction for us, specially in a discipline where Nazaré has always had a great tradition, including twelve players that are or have been part of the Portuguese National Team. No doubt, it will be a great sports festival, at the same time it will mean an excellent international promotion for Nazaré and a huge economical activation for the whole region,” he said.
Joan Cusco, Beach Soccer Worldwide Vice-President, added: “The Euro Winners Cup is a key component in our calendar and we’re delighted to be heading to Nazaré for this year’s event. Nazaré is a key spot in a key country such as Portugal, one of beach soccer most important destinations, home to defending FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup champions.”
“Teams always show great enthusiasm when it comes to competing at this tournament and, with the women’s competition being held for a second year, it’s something we’re all hugely looking forward to.”
Stay tuned to the Euro Winners Cup 2017 event page for details of confirmed teams and further developments.
NOTE: Teams are advised to contact Nazaré Tourism Office (firstname.lastname@example.org) at their earliest convenience to deal with hotel accommodation and further relevant information.
