Beach Soccer burst into the ATP Valencia Open 500, with the Beach Soccer Foundation running riot at the tournament with a friendly match with two teams shaped by highest-level sportsmen. Eleven-a-side World Champion and former Real Madrid player, Christian Karembeu and living Beach soccer legend Ramiro Amarelle commanded a team in which Valencia Beach Soccer Team forward José Miralles and former America Cali goalkeeper Arturo Yepes added their bit.

On the other side, former ATP top-6 tennis star Albert Costa coached a team mainly shaped by tennis players, with hitters such as Pablo Andújar or David Marrero, as well as French Open Mixed Doubles 2001 champion Tomás Carbonell, among others.

Although the rackets made things not easy, the win fell on the side of Karembeu, Amarelle and co. (8-4).

Regardless of what the final result was, the participants stressed out wha was the most important of taking part in activities of this kind. Christian Karembeu, for example, highlighted that “I was really happy when being called for this action. It is always great news to be here, to join great sportsmen and do it all after a good cause. The job The Beach Soccer Foundation is doing is awesome, and I feel joyful for helping as much as I can”.

On similar words, Spanish beach star Ramiro Amarelle pointed that “It is a great pleasure being able to take part in these kind of events. It is good that Beach Soccer and Tennis get involved in these actions, as they are both top-class sports. Joining forces can only result in good things for the two of them”.
