It is not going to be easy?

Only Russia, Spain and Portugal secure wide wins in opening of the Moscow Qualifier, as Switzerland and France get surprised

Romania sweats first points out against Estonia

Estonia became the first proof tan nothing is going to be easy for those aiming for the next rounds in this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow, and forced Romania to sweat the first points out in a really tight game, only unleveled at the last minutes of the last period. Despite being the seed team in Group F, and having become a regular in every year’s European Cup and Superfinal, the Romanians had a tough morning today, facing the surprising Estonians, who performed in a really organized fashion.

Anton opened the score for the blue side, indeed, thanks to a penalty kick that got them ahead almost across most of the first period, until M. Poste equalized things back. Although no more goals were scored during these first minutes, that hit brought the Carpathian side the ease to see the rest of the match as their opportunity to go on and secure the points. But that was not to be as easy as it reads, as the Estonians would never let them too far, even managing a second equalizer, 3-3, by mid third period.

Final take off by Farcas’ side did finally happen, though, mainly thanks the two strokes by Luci and Maci making things 5-3 with just two minutes to go. The Romanian reaction came rather late, but it did come, finally, what means for them the chance to see their game tomorrow against the Czech Republic as the chance to secure a place in the Round of 16.

Goals:  1-0: Anton, min. 10 (1); 1-1: M. Poste, min. 4 (1) ; 1-2 : Crecan, min. 6 (2) ; 2-2 : Galkin, min. 3 (2) ; 2-3 : M. Poste, min. 3 (2) ; 3-3 : Anton, min. 7 (3) ; 3-4 : Luci, min. 6 (3) ; 3-5 : Maci, min. 2 (3) ;

Rawidjan leads Netherlands to a great win

Daryl Radwidjan became the new Dutch hero after leading the orange to a brilliant opening in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. Four goals by the mighty forward were the sharp weapon through which the Netherlands managed a really prestigious victory over Turkey.

Until Tosch unleashed the opener in for Kokmeijer’s side, no many things had happened on the sand, with two teams who acknowledged the strength of their opponent. After that, though, by the end of the first period Rawidjan managed to give the ball extra spin to make it fly past the Turkish goalkeeper and seal the second for his side, and which was to be the first of his amazing performance today.

The more rhythmic second period awoke Dutch target man Koswal, who, after a couple of missed attempts, fired the third goal for the Netherlands. His team mate  Daryl Rawidjan also made it through the Turkish defense with witty and fast movements to end his move with an accurate execution worth the 4-0.

At that point, the Ottoman found the reward they had been fighting for, and cut the score with Erhan’s 4-1. But today was Rawidjan’s day, as he himself loudly restated with two new goals in two minutes, leaving the Turkish defense helpless despite their spirited efforts to close a score that gets Holland significant chances to get into next round. Tomorrow, against Spain, they could secure those chances.

Goals: 0-1: Tosch, min. 7 (1); 0-2: Rawidjan, min. 2 (1); 0-3: Koswal, min. 9(2); 0-4: Rawidjan, min. 4 (2); 1-4: Erhan, min. 4(2); 1-5: Rawidjan, min. 7(3); 1-6: Rawidjan, min. 6(3).

Spain makes firm first step (2-9)

Spain wanted to brush away any possibility of an early stumble against Norway the sooner the better. Joaquin Alonso’s side regarded no other possibility than clinching the first three points in their way in this Qualifier for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013, and they took on Norway in full determination; no mistakes allowed. With this idea in mind, the Spaniards quickly managed a comfortable advantage, with Aceiton, Antonio and Pajon having things 0-3 by mid first period, although Jakobsen managed the last goal in the leg with 1-3.

The Iberian monologue kept on during the second period, again with Aceiton and Amarelle joining the party with the 1-5, and in the third. Norway could do little more than stomaching hit after hit, only being able to shyly reply with Salveson’s 2-8 when the match was close to its end. Notwithstanding, Antonio, hat-trick scorer today, would not let the Norwegian be the last to cheer before the final whistle, thus extending his personal records and his team’s with a left-foot rocket straight into Kalle’s goalmouth.

With this loud win, Spain gets on top of the table in group D, followed by solid Netherlands, who beat Turkey 1-6, and who they are to face tomorrow with the first door to next round at their very reach.

Goals: 0-1: Aceiton, min. 6 (1); 0-2: Antonio, min. 5 (1); 0-3: Pajon, min. 4 (1); 1-3: Jakobsen, min. 3 (1); 1-4: Aceiton, min. 7 (2); 1-5: Amarelle, min. 4 (2); 1-6: Javi T. , min. 10 (3); 1-7: Antonio, min. 6 (3); 1-8: Sidi, min. 4 (3); 2-8: Salveson, min. 1 (3); 2-9: Antonio, min. 0 (3)

Friszkemut finds his moment in a match lead by defenses

Prolific defending had much to be blamed for in the tight 2-1 giving Poland the first points against Germany in Group A of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. The match between Polish and Germans was packed with emotion and good moves but defenders and goalkeepers denied once and again any chance getting in.

After hard struggling, Saganowski swept his team ahead in the last  minute of the first period, managing an advantage that Germany would quickly neutralize with Olli’s equalizer. The battle between the two captains perfectly embodied the battle between both sides, at one end and the other, defense versus attack. Indeed, Saganowski was one of Poland’s more effective defenders, blocking many of the German attacks, what becomes a real evidence of the effort his side needed to get the points.

Despite their own nets seemed safe, an extra step would be needed if any of them wanted to get these first three points. Defense was not enough for both sides, and some risks were to be taken. Germany were proposing a more offensive game, with well-built moves and a more enthusiastic approach. But as it happens sometimes, no exception made for Beach Soccer, the one proposing is the one suffering the stroke, with a really smart Friszkemut finding the proper moment to punish the slightly uncovered Germanu rearguard and having the points secured for his team.

Goals: 1-0: Saganowski, min. 0 (1); 1-1: Romrig, min. 11(2): 2-1: Friszkemut, min. 4(2)

Azerbaijan’s blasting first minutes knock England down

England had to stomach a bitter defeat today, when losing to Azerbaijan in their opening game at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 Qualifier Moscow (1-4). The Azeri win was mainly founded on a terrific first period, in which a 0-3 run got things really uphill for the English National side yet at a very early stage.

Azerbaijan has been causing many upsets in the last years in the European beach soccer panorama, even achieving to get themselves in the Promotion Final of the Euro Beach Soccer League to fight for a top-flight berth, and they kept in this same mood today against England. In a group in which only Switzerland stands out as the a priori favourite, the remaining three teams have serious chances to get into next round if they do things well, and the Azeri began securing their possibilities at the very first chance. With the game under control after the basting 0-3 run, Zeynal bagged the fourth hit for his team to push the advantage even further, almost finishing the game.

Despite the score, England tried to cancel the Azeri dominion out even harder during the third period, but nothing seemed to work for Bowes’ lads. A brilliant overhead kick by Evans finally managed to break Emin’s deadlock, but the English reaction reached no further. Despite some laudable efforts from then on, with a ball even hitting the post after Bowes’ volley, the match, and the points, were already on Azeri’s hands.

Goals: 1-0: Elvin, min. 6 (1); 2-0: Ehad, 3-0: Emin, min. 3 (1); 4-0: Zeynal, min- 7 (2); 4-1: Evans, min. 5 (3)

Expertise gets Italy the points against Bulgaria

Italy found it hard to beat the Bulgarian resistance in their first game in this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. Always close in the score, Giorgiev’s side became a real menace for most of the time, with Savov’s denying time after time the Azzurra attempts, and Tsevtkov causing trouble up front. Finally, though, the Italian bigger experience at the international top scale made the difference, and Esposito’s side could bag the points that get them on the higher part of the table in group E, together with Hungary.

Pamacci took the leading voice for the Italians during the first minutes of the game. He was undeniably the most dangerous man and he himself scored the two goals that opened the score for his side and left things quite comfortable for the Azzurra. The number 11 in the other side, Tsvetkov was the main dynamo pulling the Bulgarian spirit, as well as the one breaking the transalpine resistance with the 1-2.

Savov, under the Bulgarian goalposts had also a lot to do with the score remaining untouched most of the times, although he could not prevent Pasquali’s attempt getting in right after the 1-2. Tsvetkov scored again for Bulgaria, tightening things back once again at the beginning of the last stage and uncertainty overflew the stadium for some minutes, as one goals by Giorgiev’s lads would get the match leveled, but the Italians finally were the ones to secure the points, with the 4-2 by Soria from the penalty kick spot.

Goals: 0-1: Palmacci, min. 8 (1); 0-2: Palmacci, min. 1 (1); 1-2: Tsvetkov, min. 8 (2); 1-3: Pasquali, min. 8 (2); 2-3: Tsvetkov, min 11 (3) 2-4: Soria, min. 6 (3)

Hungarian best version ready for the fight for next round (5-2)

Hungary offered today great sensations in their opening game in Moscow, where they clearly beat Israel to get on top of the table in group F. The Hungarians, who had had a difficult beginning of the season, with a tough time in Terracina in the opening stage of the Euro Beach Soccer Cup. On Italian soil, though, despite a disappointing beginning, they grew and grew to leave the tournament with good sensations. The key date of the season was to be here, in Russia, where to fight until their very last chance chasing the dream of getting into the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013. Their first step in doing so could not be more convincing, as they cruised past one of the traditionally more uncomfortable teams, Israel, to clinch the three points at stake.

Besenyei and Ughy, with two goals each were the main architects of the Magyar triumph, with the contribution by captain Fekete to compete a loud 5-1 which voices quite clearly the supremacy by the Hungarians over the Israeli today.  After opening the score with a 2-0 by mid second period, it seemed that Israel would force De Celis’ lads, at least, to fight till the end for the points, but after that leveled minutes, Ughy counteracted Israel’s last effort with two hits in just one minute, almost deciding the game.

Besenyei’s closing the scoreboard with the 5-1 secured the first place in the table for Hungary, over a +2-goal-averaged Italy, and will face Bulgaria tomorrow trying to cancel ticket for next round.

Goals: 1-0: Besenyei, min. 7 (2), 2-0: Fekete, min. 4 (2); 2-1: Danin, min. 2 (2) 3-1: Ughy, min.9 (3); 4-1: Ughy, min. 9 (3); 5-1: Besenyei, min. (3); 5-2: Iloz, min. (3);

Belarus brings the first surprise in the competition after bending Switzerland on extra time

Belarus brought the first surprise of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow after beating Switzerland on the extra time. Bokach’s hat-trick lead the team to bend the favourites of the group and earn  the first points of the tournament in a furiously-paced game in which current European runner-ups found it impossible to cope with the spirited Belarusians.

Two  early goals by Apine Spacca and Stankovic proved the Swiss superiority the first period of the match. After that impressive beginning by Schirinzi’s side, though, the well-organized Belarusian defense brought a stage in which none of the moves found a good end.  In turn, Bokach would begin his outstanding performance today scoring the first goal for his side, inflicting his team the courage to fight for the victory.

The desire by Belarus to find their opponent’s end opened the spaces and brought a much more vivid and fast game, one in which Bogaichuk’s ads managed to remain stronger than the amusingly-talented Swiss side. Despite being never ahead on the score after Ruslan’s 2-2, Belarus kept always close to Switzerland, replying any attempt they may try to end up sending the game into extra time, again, thanks to Bokach.

The Belarusian hero did not stop at that point, though, as his inspiration lit his team’s way even further, scoring the winner in the extra three minutes to snatch Switzerland the two points and follow Azerbaijan’s footsteps in this opening day of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Moscow Qualifier.

Goals: 1-0: Spacca, min. 11 (1); 2-0: Stankovic, min. 10 (1); 2-1 Bokach, min 2 (1); 2-2: Ruslan, min. 2 (2); 2-3: Ruslan, min.  (3); 3-3: Stankovic, min. 7 (3); 4-3 Stankovic, 6 (3); 4-4: Bokach, 6 (3); 4-5: Bokach, 1 (ET)

Defending champions too close to stumble against Greece

It was close, too close, for defending Qualifier champions Ukraine to see their win over Greece flee after a the Greek reaction in the third period. After the hard way Romania had found to bend Estonia, and the surprise of Belarus beating Switzerland, the match facing Kucherenko’s and Soilemes sides was a new proof of how difficult it can turn to survive in such a competitive tournament as this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow.

When Borsuk swept Ukraine ahead in the first minute of the game, and the Hellenic founding it impossible to counteract, everything seemed to point to an easy afternoon for defending champions. But it was definitely not, as Delaportas voiced with the equalizer. Ok, no big deal for Ukraine, who, some minutes afterwards hit not one, nor twice, but three times in a row to have things 4-1 by the end of second period.

That could not let the Greek determination down enough, though, as regardless who they were facing, and the wide gap in the score kept struggling and struggling. That brought a good reward for the Mediterranean side, as Triantafyllidis and Paris cut the distance to get right behind Ukraine. Two minutes to the end of the game was time enough to complete such a terrific job, but Ukraine, seeing their points in real danger, increased their defensive intensity to deny all Greece’s attempts. Two minutes of strong resistance, then, finally merited them the first points in Group B, together with the chance of securing a pace in next round tomorrow, in their game against Moldova.

Goals: 1-0: A. Borsuk, min. 11 (1); 1-1: Delaportas, min. 10 (2); 2-1: Korniichuk, min. 3 (2); 3-1: Korniichuk, min. 3 (2); 4-1: Pachev, min. 1 (2); 4-2: Triantafyllidis, min. 4 (3); 4-3: Paris, min. 2 (3);

Latvia becomes a new victim of the Russian powder (2-9)

When seeing the match schedule, it is not difficult to imagine the things may have crossed the Latvian minds when they saw who they were to face in their first match of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. Beginning a competition facing the World Champions, Russia, who are playing at home, and seek no other thing than securing their ticket to next FIFA World Cup edition, is a really uncomfortable scenario to find oneself at.

The Latvian worst omens turned into reality as the referee blew his whistle for the kick off, as just six minutes afterwards, Leonov and Makarov had already punished the back of their nets twice. The nightmare was not over, though, as the Russian bombing kept on, even more intensely, during the second twelve minutes. Precisely during these second leg, Shishin began his contribution to the hosts’ tally, which he would end with four goals.

When the score was already 8-0, Latvia found the first crack to the Russian nets, and Vasiljev took profit of this unique occasion to, at least, ruin the Russian clean sheet. Makarov tried to close the score with his third goal for the 9-1, but again the Latvian took advantage of their opponents having lowered the pace a bit, and Kravchenko managed the 2-9 that little harm can do to a Russia National Team that heads to next round, followed by Poland.

Goals: 1-0: Leonov, min. 9 (1); 2-0: Makarov, min. 6 (1); 3-0: Shishin, min. 9 (2); 4-0: Makrov, min. 6 (2); 5-0: Makarov, min. 3 (2); 6-0: Shishin, min. 0 (2); 7-0: Eremeev, min. 9 (3); 8-0: Shishin, min. 6 (3); 8-1: Vasiljev, min. 6 (3); 9-1: Makarov, min. 0 (3);

Uncontestable win by Portugal

Together with Spain and Russia, Portugal was one of the teams that wanted to leave no room for doubt about their hierarchy and their immediate goal in Moscow. The Portuguese thrashed Moldova in the eleventh game of a busy opening day in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow, and see the rest of the league stage in a privileged position in the table, awaiting for the presumably decider in the stage, against Ukraine.

Portugal never let Moldova any actual chance in the game, and after a arguably lowly prolific first two periods, increased the pace to have the score 6-0 by mid third stage. Madjer, Belchior, Alan or Bruno Novo got their names in the referee’s report, just saying: “Here we are, we will not miss this”.

Amid the Portuguese dominion, Moldova got their little prize. First, when Baesu dived to a long ball and headed it far from Joao Carlos’ reach to have the score finally open for his team, and later, although no change was to be felt in the course of the game, just as Jordan and Alan set clear with the 1-8, with Chiper’s great goal that raised the final 2-8. This victory gets Portugal on top of the table in group B, overtaking Ukraine thanks to a better goal register.

Goals: 1-0: Bruno Novo, min.6 (1); 2-0: Jordan, min. 0 (1); 3-0: Madjer, min. 5 (2); 4-0: Belchior, min. 10 (3); 5-0: Bruno Novo, min. 8 (3); 6-0: Madjer, min. 4 (3); 1-6: Baesu, min. 3 (3); 1-7: Jordan, min. 3 (3); 1-8: Alan, min. 3 (3); 2-8: Chiper, min. 1 (3);

Czech Republic upsets France

Czech Republic took a great step forward in their desire to get into the next round of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – Qualifier Moscow. Beating one of the biggest teams in Europe, France, was something many would think not really probable, but the Czech’s faith went way beyond that limits.

France hit the sand extremely motivated, something they clearly fielded with a frenetic pace during the first stages of the game. During these minutes, the French side opened the score, thanks to Basquaise, and seemed to be driving the game towards where they wanted it to be. Unfortunately for them, that was the last time they would see themselves ahead, and it only lasted some seconds. After Kovarik’s equalizer, and Filinger 1-2 in the first minutes of the second period, the control of the game shifted hands, and forced François’ side to be the ones to carry the offensive responsibility.

Under these circumstances, Lukic’s side found the perfect environment to move through. France were the ones needing to look towards the opposite end, and that gave them the best chances to counterattack. Despite Fort managed the 2-2, Chalupa and Kubice had things 2-4 by the end of the second leg, making things even more difficult for France. Every hit by the French was dishearteningly replied by the Czech, what made anxiousness grow in Les Bleus’ spirit.

It would not be fair, though, to say that France did not deserve better. François’ lads tried to put the Czech goalie to the test a lot of times, from many different positions, only to see their attempts denied, or the ball not founding the goal. Nothing worked, and the points ended up in Czech hands who have already made the first big step by sinking one of the group favourites. A lot more yet to do, though…

Goals: 1-0: Basquaise, min. 3 (1); 1-1: Kovarik, min. 3 (1); 1-2: Filinger, min. 9 (2); 2-2: Fort, min. 3 (2) ; 2-3 : Chalupa, min. 1 (2) ; 2-4 : Kubice, min. 0 (2) ; 3-4 : Pagis, min. 11 (3) ; 3-5 : Chalupa, min. 8 (3) ; 4-5 : Basquaise, min. 1 (3) ; 4-6 : Kovarik, min. 0 (3)
